Donā€™t be harsh. I would never drop a fit ode. Look at the line up it exudes footballing genius

"This is is Mikā€™s treble winning lineup and I wonā€™t even charge the w.nker."

This. But I don't even know what it meant

Nice to see him fit and playing 90 minutes again. He's very good on the ball and wins his headers, but as I have said defensively he struggles, very very slow player.

Calafiori actually looks quick going forward on the ball and he got beat fo pace twice defensively by Hakimi buts he's one of fastest there is in football.

Not just Hakimi today, he got burnt by Savinho v City the other week too. I'm not worried about it, it's something he and Arteta will just need to work on.

Looks great in the other areas of his game, exciting player.

That's fine, it's not the first time in history that the attacker is faster than the defender, but he needs to improve his defending in those situations.
don't really think there is anything he could have have done.

It was a physical limitation, he's not as fast as hakimi, never will be.

The good news is that, not many players are ad fast as hakimi.

He do needs to improve on the savihno situation tho

He's not slow, he played against the fastest and most dangerous attacking RB in football (along with Frimpong) and got caught 1v1 with him in space a couple of times. Barcola did nothing against him in the second half and he's quite quick himself.

We need to avoid being caught in such positions by making sure that thereā€™s backup coverage from elsewhere bothering the offensive player.

What Calafiori should avoid is getting overzealous in tackles against pacey matchups like the one against Savio.

Bit of a cursed sample size tbf. He's gone up against some of the quickest players in football + Savinho is probably a top 5 dribbler in football right now, at least statistically so based off last season. I know he's a bit of an unknown quantity to many people only watching the PL but he was electric for Girona.

I haven't seen anything from Calafiori that would raise any alarm bells. He's coped decently well against some of the most difficult matchups in football right now and has looked very good going forward as well.

Calafiori is not "very very slow". Did you just see him against Hakimi and drew your conclusions from there?

Zinchenko and Jorginho are slow for example. Below you can compare Jorginho's 27.6 km/h top speed at the Euros vs. Calafiori's 32.5 km/h. 5 km/h faster is a lot.

He also just joined. He is good defensively, but it will take some time to adjust and develop more.

At the Euros he clocked in at 32.5 km/h, which is in the same zone as Watkins, Stones, and Van Dijk ā€” and was a little bit slower than the likes of Saliba and GuĆ©hi. Again, grain of salt, dear reader, as Xhaka was also thereabouts. The short version is that he has really nice speed for a CB, and solid (if unextraordinary) Premier League pace for a FB, though his physical qualities look to be improving every year.

Jorginho at the Euros:

27.6 Top speed (km/h)
26.7 avg. per match

Calafiori at the Euros:
32.5 Top speed (km/h)
31.27 avg. per match

Firstly Hakimi is rapid. Secondly when hakimi ran past him he was already in a sprint and Cala had to chase him from a standing start.

Calafoiri has good pace, he ain't no slouch. Main issue I've seen is his defensive intelligence, knowing when to be tight, where to position yourself etc. he should learn from saliba who is an absolute master at it.

Calafiori was good yesterday at his position he won't beat Hakimi with pace but Doue was out of game because of Calafiori

Also I know he Italian but need to cool down being aggressive and passionate on pitch could lead to mistakes.

But overall I'm happy our left side massively improved with him

Too much attention put on pace in football generally tbh.

As long as you've got average pace and can read the game well you'll be fine. Getting rinsed by a sprinter will happen every now and again.

He's got a bit to work on defensively because he is a bit suspect at times but there's good talent there so I'm not worried. It's been a good start from him here, just need to round off a few of those rough edges.
