You kinda going harsh on Calafiori he voted best defender last season in serie a he just adjusting to new position in new league he hasn't been bad either yes got beaten few times but today goal wasn't his fault wan bissaka is Trossard responsibility.

Calafiori was a mediocre full back in Italy who received praises when he was converted to being a center back....... ultimately just 1 good season proves nothing, we have seen defenders like Djourou, Senderos, Eboue, Sokratis etc who looked like world beaters when they are in form but you cannot trust them to be in form everytime.

It really makes me question the point of us spending 40 million on Calafiori (INSANELY large sum on a defender from Italy with 1 good season) when we can be giving play time to MLS. Sure MLS looks sus defensively at times but the exact same can be said about Calafiori. Calafiori runs around a lot but otherwise he's yet to actually prove himself to be an upgrade from Nuno Taveres.

He been consistent for 3 seasons when was at Basel and Bologna yes as center back not full back but he still very young and just raised quick into ranks and become Italian international. That's why he cost 40M. He need to stay fit so he can improve and he really started his Arsenal career well not sure why the fuss because he got dribbled one or tow times

MLS not ready watch Liverpool goal again

He plays with a fearlessness I love. He’s not afraid to take risks and is a very reliable passer of the ball. He just needs to stay fit and build up his PL match rhythm and experience.

So have we decided yet that this guy is the new Tomi or are we still holding out hope?
He had one freak injury earlier on when he put his leg wrong and then this recent one. In the previous seasons he didn't really have niggling injuries bothering him, just that near career ender early on and some minor ones in between.

I'd suggest caution. Tomi has been like this for years and is on a different level unfortunately.

It's not a surprise that the fans bemoan our title chances being over when this guy doesn't play. Massive.

He's crucial to our LHS - lots of data showing that we're much better with him in the side, though the sample size is small tbf.

His off the ball positioning is really really good from a progression / attacking point of view.

It's annoying because him being available means Timber stays at RB vs Fulham and we win that game, I have no doubt. Heck even Zinny being available would have done it 😭

^ that is exactly what makes fans turn against certain players (quite fairly). The inability of tomi/zink to stay fit for more than 5 mins means we have to overplay certain players (white) or play others out of position (timber/partey).

With tomiyasu or zinchenko fit, we beat Fulham and probably Liverpool as well.

Who on earth decided it was a good idea to give tomi a new contract last season?

Same person who thinks we "have" to play others out of position.

Ricky seeing the younger, better quality on the ball and more handsome Lewis-Skelly take his place as he rehabs his 100th injury since we signed him...

He's not a left-back in my opinion, his physical profile just don't fit.

You compare Timber and White, both very athletic, strong, good in the air and quality on the ball, Calafiori only has a few of those. I think he should take Kiwi's spot and be a rotation option with Gabriel.

Arsenal Quotes

Right from his very first match, when Patrick Vieira was as yet unknown to the English public, he showed just how talented he was. No one disputed his ability, and he gave me the credibility and the hold over the club that I needed to take it in the direction I wanted. He and Emmanuel Petit became a duo that would remain forever etched in the memories of Arsenal fans.
