Is it? I haven’t noticed anything tbh. I just assumed it’s all kicking off up north.

If them EDL lot tried sth in East London it would be over real quick…
Did get a coke ridden skinhead (at 3pm) get his panties in a twist when I told him to watch where he going on the road yesterday, but that’s all I saw 😂

Kiwior’s records don’t really matter as ultimately he’s a p***y on the pitch.

Calafiori is a leader, standing out in that crap Italy side as the only player who was looking to get them through. The Everest size gap in quality between him and Kiwor will be shown soon on the pitch
It think it is just a wind up. Literally the only slight worry some ppl had over Calafiori is his speed (if he plays LB). No chance he came close to any speed record.

Must be same person who started that Kiwior sprint record too. Anyone who has seen Kiwior 'sprint' knows that is 100% BS. He is 2nd slowest player at the club after Jorginho.

They lack the acceleration, but a lot of CBs out there are pretty fast and often have the highest top speed at clubs especially without the ball as they are often the most powerful athletes in the squad. I think the Kiwior one was true.

It would be interesting to have the speed times of the team but unless a player boasts about it on their socials they are closely guarded nowadays.

While some players are deceptively quick I don't believe for a second Kiwior "easily beat" Bellerin's 40m sprint record. This is really a small distance where acceleration is vital. Kiwior starts like a tanker, it would be nothing short of a miracle if it was true.

Can't wait to see him play for us this season. I know the term aura has become a bit of a meme, but Calafiori, Saliba, Gabriel and White all have that it-factor. All four of them have the potential to be the best defenders of their respective countries. So much quality.
I think this will easily the best back 4 we've had since the invincible days.

Top speed is an interesting one and you may be onto sth re power, Sol Campbell has one of the all time highest top speeds for Arsenal iirc and no one really thought of him as “quick”.

But 40m is not a top speed contest and no one in this squad is getting close to Martinelli over that distance. And I’m pretty confident I’d beat Kiwior

I don’t know about Kiwior and I’m not gonna argue about him at 40m, but trust me when I say CBs are some of the fastest man around even if they don’t look it.

Kiwior and Saliba clocked identical top speeds during the euros as well. I think there is a chance that he and new guy can breeze in a straight line without the ball when agility is removed from the equation.

How often do you need that in football though?

Van de Ven does look it, though, his recoveries are insane.

Same with Saliba. I ain't trying to make out Kiwior to be the fastest, but this snail narrative you guys have I don't think is true.

Anyways, I've derailed this thread enough, lets see what this new geezer is saying.

I'm sorry but I'm still trying to come to terms with the fact that you have eyes, and you have used them to watch both Saliba and Kiwior. Pretty obvious that Saliba displays hunting people down and taking the ball off them and Kiwior gets dribbled past and fails to recover.

Kiwior literally looks slow.

Yeah not being bad but your eyes and what you think is happening actually means nothing when determining the top speed of players on the pitch. As we see below, White leaves Saliba in the dust on paper, but how often do we talk about White's recovery pace like we do with Saliba?

A few of you fail to grasp that running in a straight line in training and what happens on the football pitch where agility, reactions come into play are two completely different things hence me dismissing the top marks in training in the first place.

There is nothing disproving that Kiwior or Calafiori can't hold their own in a race with the squad as much as some of you can't wrap your head around it.

You can look slow while having decent top speed. Thing is, top speed rarely matters in football. It's certainly not irrelevant but it takes a backseat to 20-40m sprints and your ability to change directions quickly.

Seems reasonable to me that modern CBs would do very well across a 100m sprint. They're all insanely fit, fairly muscular tall dudes who'll eat up space once they get going. But again, it doesn't really translate to in-match "quickness".

It's not just agility. I'm saying he looks slow, because I see him run in a straight line and he still looks slow. He may have a decent top speed, but it's more about how long you can maintain it.

The men's 100 meter final was a prime example. Is Lyles top speed higher than Thompson? No, but he can maintain it for longer.

Kiwior either takes an age to reach top speed, or if he gets there he can't keep it there for very long.

I think it's both and the way he runs, with the Pires gate, and the fact he doesn't even lift his knees makes him look even slower.

It probably takes him 40meters to get to top speed and then he can probably hold it for 10 meters.

Statistically those 10 metres would be clocked as fast.

But man. He's not fast.

They are barely showing this guy in training vids. Be interesting to see the line up later tonight.

Nobody wants to see Jesus scoring goals that he’ll miss in an actual match.
