For the start of the new season, Arsenal Mania has relaunched the news side of the site. All articles are written by genuine Arsenal fans with no hidden agenda. You can visit the site via the menu at the top of the forum pages or go direct to our homepage

Additionally, Arsenal Mania is now sending all its registered members a bi-weekly Briefing Bulletin containing a digest of news and views from both parts of the site. Some of you may have already received the first edition and those that haven't should do so before the big kick off against United. If you are a guest visitor to this forum then if you join as a member, you will automatically receive the Bulletin.

Riccardo Calafiori: The Italian Stallion

Was on Vinai's payroll; misses 4th place trophy 🏆
We were better once he stopped roaming all over
we do this usually to increase the numbers offensively against low blocks. but it could come with risk that leave us open specially our left side. i think there no reason to stop this he has insane quality he finishing is very good too.

Funny how we don’t hear a peep from the folks who kept calling him a bad signing or said that he can't play LB.

The only legit argument against him was his injury proneness, seems to be doing better on that front. Long may that continue.

Skelly can't even get look in anymore, what a player
yes shame for MLS but Calafiori was bought to start but because of Cala injures we were forced to use MLS more LB is not his position i hope Mikel start using MLS as midfielder more now with Hincapie is back who levels above MLS as LB too and will likely start games if Calafiori need rest.

Ngl I expected MLS to start strong, but it turned out the opposite. His poor form from last season continued + errors in build up lost him the spot.
I love Myles, but Riccy is such a unique player and so funny to watch him create chaos. Also his finishing is ridiculous. A lot of attackers can learn from him.

He’s been great this season and you don’t really know what to expect when he’s playing LB particularly in the attacking third however today, he was just giving away needless fouls.

More time a lot of them were unnecessary and alleviating the pressure that Sunderland were facing.

He was called for two ridiculous fouls. One he was pushed from behind into another opposing player and the other he barely made any contact.

Let's be honest had a huge stinker in the last 15 or so mins and should have been hooked for Hincapie. Crazy that Arteta allowed him to stay on the pitch, was just giving up so many cheap fouls.

Yes I was calling for him to be subbed clearly tired after playing like as LB and CF all 2nd half.

Really unlucky not to score at the 2nd such clever player

Nearly won it for us at the end but him and also Timber were running on fumes last 15m. How many times do players get muscle fatigue injuries the end of games, MA made 1 sub only he should of made more.

Easy to type it now but I honestly thought he should of hooked Merino once we took the lead last 10 he was just dropping so deep and physically spent also.

I would of even been fine with Harriman-Annous up top just fresh legs.

Arsenal Quotes

It is well known the referees are protected very well like the lions in the zoo so we have to live with their decisions
