If you want to win something against doped opponent, you must be prepared for extreme mental and physical challenges.
Because you're not doped.

If want to beat a squad as deep as City's you also need to know to rotate and adjust your tactics so that the team is not completely spent due to an ever-increasing packed schedule.

Works both ways.

Of course, you need all, to have skillful athletic players, deep squad and excellent coaching staff.

Do you think that Arteta should be blamed for Calafiori's injury?
He has played 386 minutes in 7 Prem matches so far.
You think that this is too much and that the UCL match against Shaktar wasn't important?

The problem has been for us that every time we brought players in to rotate this season like Jesus, Sterling, Merino, even Jorginho, there's been a drop in performance.

He's an edge of the seat sort of player, inviting contact by overplaying frequently.

He's a player that's going to pick up injuries fairly frequently if he doesn't adapt his game a little.

Inverting is hard but you also have to play the role with your brain at times.

The point @Tir Na Nog made wasn't that it was Arteta's fault?

While I don't think he's at fault directly for Cala's injury, I do think he should've subbed him earlier, yes.

And I also think Mikel has *some* blame on the overall fitness of part of the squad throughout his tenure here, and it stems from his reluctance to use the players he has and asking players to do too much at times.

He has gotten better at it, last season he routinely rotated Tomi/Kiwi/Zinchenko in game, for instance.

Nothing wrong with playing this high intensity football, but it does mean you run through players quicker than other set ups and you need to either have a bigger squad or be proactive in bringing in new people and shipping out the ones who can't handle the physicality of it.

I thought he seriously damaged his knee from the way he fallen but look he escaped and he need to slow down his aggression seem will cause more harm than good.

I mean, that's on the Edteta, though?

He has had this problem ever since he took over. Needs to learn how to adapt and keep players fresh and with some match fitness under his belt.

It's not easy, but he doesn't have the luxury of having as deep a squad as City.

It's not an easy balance to strike. You're juggling between playing players consistently so they can build form, and rotating players so the bench players can remain sharp. They're two conflicting strategies.

Other teams have struggled as well, Leverkusen rested most of their team last night and dropped points to Brest. Barcelona rested players against Osasuna and were losing 2-0 by half-time. Bayern rested Musiala and Laimer last night and got thrashed. It's not easy at all.

They faced teams from Ligue 1 and La Liga away from home, Arsenal faced plumbers from Ukraine at home.

Cone boy doesn't trust his backups which will be his downfall. Kwior should have played from the start, but we all know cone boy likes the easy option.

We don’t actually play high intensity football in most of our games anymore either. It’s another lesson he’s learned. Last season we only turned it up to 11 for a couple stretches of games really, presumably in order to manage the load on the team. It’s a big reason as to why so many think we’re crap to watch now.

He’ll try all sorts of things before he resorts to rotating…

He has great luxury. Yeah, he didn't spend a billion like Chelsea but when you spend the amount he has spent, we should not be looking like this nor having the kind of depth issues we are having at the moment.

He just spent 165+ mil on 2 players for the midfield last year. They are playing, but neither in their intended positions. Midfield depth is still an issue

Kalafiori has played 386 minutes in 6 Prem matches this season, 65 minutes per match.
He has played 179 minutes in 3 UCL matches, 60 minutes per match.
If this is too much, I don't know what to say.

Plumbers?
Arsenal has played against them 4 times before this last match.
2 wins, 2 losses.
If they are plumbers, what does it say about Arsenal?

Plumbers Shaktar who play UCL regularly vs mighty Brest and Osasuna,
Shaktar who played against Real Madrid 1:1 at home and lost 2:1 at Bernabeu 2 years ago (war in Ukraine already started).
You really know football, don't you?

This one’s on arteta imo.

I know it was an impact type injury but considering Timber is injured and Tomiyasu is out, why are you risking Calafiori who has had multiple knocks this year from being overplayed and has a history of injuries?

Look at our fixture list over the next 2 weeks, it defines our season.

I was pissed off to see him in the starting lineup and it ended up happening.

Why have a deep squad of defenders if you can’t play 1 of the 2 decent backup LBs vs farmers at home??? This is on Arteta.
Arteta don’t believe in rotation. This will happen over and over with calafiore until he gets a serious long term injury

Arsenal Quotes

A player's true character is in how he plays and not in his social life. You can hide your real personality in your social life, You cannot on the field.
