Riccardo Calafiori: The Italian Stallion

with MLS here there will be less demand on Calafiori to play so many minutes he could be a very vital sub the guy bring energy and someone who excellent passer and carry the ball well.

Next season we have to get MLS play as LCM and Calafiori as LB with Rice DM. but Mikel won't do that if he bought Zubi then Rice will be main LCM

For me losing Gab to injury would be huge. I would fancy cala to come in and do a decent job at lcb. Same as white would do for saliba. It's good depth in those positions.

Feel like we’re the only 2 that consistently have rated him. Everyone else here just keeps talking about how he looks.

Didn’t Calafiore mostly play as a center back before joining us? MLS might end up playing in midfield at some point as well. These guys are not necessarily rivals at LB as they are good enough to play other positions.

Exactly, Mls is Thomas understudy, Cala is swiss army knife at the back with Buccaneers mentality bombing forward. Hate how Mik’s stupidity in not adding a goal scorer has somehow tarnished the fans perceptions of Cala and Merino before they even had a chance to settle. I supported both buys thinking of course now we buy an attacker. In fact the club and Mik made statements to that regard.

And then nothing happened and Edu walked and Kai becomes the once and forever Striker till he tears something and Arsenal fans are left holding their willies while naked in a snowstorm

That's sound like some sort of Persian poetry. Not that I ever read one.

Can we ask questions about this guy yet? Left back has been a problem for us throughout Arteta's tenure and yet the best we could do was a crock left back who can't defend? What's Arteta's aversion to playing proper full backs rather than converted centre backs

He’s a CB

Think about his qualities or the things you like about him....Almost none of them will be defensive attributes.

He needs to improve a lot in that respect. Get the basics down.

He lacks lateral agility to defend at LB, but he's quality in attack and has shown far more on offense than on defense. Maybe be he can play in LCM or you just look at him as an attacking LB and accept occasional defensive lapses. And if he's just a backup to Gabriel at LCB then he'll be another Kiwior polishing the bench.

Another waste of money. People gave him a pass because he’s 6’2 and better looking than Kiwior. Defensively they’re as **** as each other.
Him, Merino, Havertz and Rice. Best part of £250m wasted on average players.
I like Rice, but the guy is a CB masquerading as a midfielder. Havertz is a decent player, basically Giroud level, but not good enough to lead the line for a team looking to win the league and the UCL. He can't create something out of nothing or finish half chances. So when the system isn't working or other teammates are off form, he can't transcend to another level, that's the issue with limited players being in crucial positions for teams trying to win big. Cali is pretty talented, but injury concerns and also he is clearly not that good defensively as an inverted LB. I think he will make a decent CB or potentially could be played as a LCM, cause he is good driving with the ball, linking up play and has pretty good shooting technique. He is strong in the tackle and good in the air.

Arsenal Quotes

I believe one of the best things about managing people is that we can influence lives in a positive way. That’s basically what a manager is about. When I can do that, I am very happy.
