This could be a bit of an odd one if we somehow end up spending 42m, Kiwior goes the Edu special, and Zinchenko ends up staying.

Can see what Orny's saying though. That's a ****-ton of money on a position that isn't necessarily a priority in comparison to other areas.

But going into the summer I think most would say we need 1 attacker (CF or LW), 1-2 CMs, and ideally a LB.

Surely we have money to spend and we will eventually get some money for at least our HG players.

I do genuinely think those midfield options may be from within this coming season.

Jorginho will be here, his playing style means there will be no discernible decline in what he offers.

Partey has another season left, I think we only replace him if a decent offer comes in, that will be from abroad only and likely Saudi if anything. No afcon to wreck recoveries and he will be likely to be fit more often.

MLS and nwaneri may have berths created for them. I think patino is gone but a good pre season and he may feature.

No word of Vieira going, would appear he may feature more if fit more often and involved in more cups, both as an 8 and a 10.

Zinny gets an unfair press, he was excellent in his first season, troubled by injuries and really lacked the support he had in partey and xhaka last season. Many say he is not good enough as a midfielder, I would argue he is more than competent back up, any improvement on him would cost money we don't have.

There may be intent to have defenders move into midfield on occasion. Tomi has played as a 6 a reasonable amount of times; Cali, timber and white all look capable of slotting in. I think timber and white may be on the field together a fair amount next season.

There is also argument havertz slips into 8 as well, I am not however keen on that!

Likewise I think trossard is 1st choice Ødegaard back up next season, another who can play midfield if chasing a game but like havertz not one I would start there.

All in all I don't think new personnel in midfield is as necessary as made out, particularly when not a lot out there that improves us. I am keen on there being a route for youngsters to make it and this could be mls' season to break through.

A winger is more pressing, potentially a CF but that would depend on departures (I also want possibility for chidi to feel 1st team action will happen if he stays). I feel nelli can move to CF if necessary.

Cali may appear a pointless signing, I think however there are plans for redeployment that his skillset allows to be actioned.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Getting a LB was good, but not a priority like a forward or a CM is.

It’s just as much as a priority like a cm or forward. None of our options is entirely comfortable playing as a LB, let alone inverting or overlapping.

None of our options are convincingly playing up top either. I'd say it's a bigger drop-off than Kiwior or Zinchenko, hence why it's a priority. Is Calafiori that guy at LB?

Also order of transfers is not the same as priority.

It wasn't an order of transfers.

Maybe this has been discussed, but am I the only one worried about him being Italian? They tend to not do great in the PL. We can give jorginho a pass because he is also Brazilian.

I would worry more if he was CB and definitely outside of London. But there are plenty of them in London he can speak to
