SKY Sports anchor Richard Keys was left red-faced as fans heard him rubbish Theo Walcott - when he thought his microphone was off.

The footie commentator, 52, thought he couldn't be heard when he mocked Walcott's pink boots - then asked if someone in the studio had trumped.

Fans say they heard the gaffes while listening to online streaming of commentary for Tuesday night's 4-1 Champions League mauling of Arsenal by Barcelona.

At one point 21-year-old Walcott went down and Richard was heard screaming: "Get up, you stupid little boy."


He then added: "You've been s***e, son, in your daft pink boots - absolute rubbish."

Richard, who shared a studio with match pundits Graeme Souness and Ruud Gullit at the game in Spain, allegedly also asked "Who's farted? It's not me" before jokingly blaming a crew member.

Listener Shaun Steed, 21 - a student from Stoke, Staffs - said: "It took me a while to work out what I was listening to.

"It sounded like a fan off the terraces whose voice was picked up amid the commentary, then I realised it was Richard Keys.

"He was getting worked up like any other frustrated fan, though it was clear he was not impressed with Walcott.

"It was comedy gold when he asked who had farted."

This was not the first time Keys has got involved in a microphone boob. Three years ago he lost patience with a Faroe Islands v Scotland game - and exclaimed: "Silly ground, stupid game, f*** off."


Fans who posted his latest gaffe on footie message boards likened it to Ron Atkinson's infamous blunder six years ago.

Atkinson was banned by ITV after making racist slurs against Chelsea's Marcel Desailly when he thought a microphone had been switched off.

But last night a baffled Sky spokesman said: "There were no technical issues with the audio on the night.

"On Sky coverage no conversations could be heard behind the live match commentary, and we did not supply any feeds to outside broadcasters. Richard has no reaction."

If there is a bigger **** in football brodcasting I have yet to see him. This guy is meant to be a flipping presenter but is always acting like a WUM and just a complete muppet in general. And you always got that feeling he tries to keep it together on screen and then off camera he is an real arrogant piece of work. As we can see here.
