This lad has an aura of a old-school heart-on-the-sleeve loyal, passionate hard man of times gone by. Really beginning to take to him.

Hope he continues as he has started. We've got ourselves a potentially quality defender here.. hope our idiot fans give him time to develop (like they didn't give Chambers before assuming he's not good enough.)

Terrible hot takes
Not fair against him or Chambers.

I have no idea how players are going to improve, growing up in losing environment.

And by the looks of it. there is NO collective defending training

Pressing seems to be up to the individual players when there should be a team unity movement.

people are shying away from challenges and thinking the next player will pick it up, and that is okey if you have steered the opponents in that direction but alas they have not

Holding and Chambers acvtually didn't do half bad

Had Per and god help me Gabriel played it would have been 1-10

With younger fresher defenders like Holding and Chambers (and not dizzy chickens like Gabriel) we can atleast hold a higher line and not be totally overrun

weak spot in the defense today? Monreal, totally overplayed several times

Woefully unfair to young lads to put them in this position. If you're going to blood a young central defender you either do it in a lower cup competition with other young players or you do it with a recognized senior player alongside them to help them with their positioning and organization. You never ever let your squad be in such disrepair on opening day that they're put in the spot Chambers and Holding were today. Moreover you absolutely don't put a midfield ahead of them that can't keep the ball or win it back thus putting that young pairing under even more undue pressure. Absolutely shameful stuff and potentially damaging to their confidence.

It may have been pure adrenaline that got him through but he looked OK. Yesterday wasn't the day to judge him though. He needs a bit of time to settle get the excitement out of his system and start adopting to the pressure.

The poor kid, I really feel for him. He should have never been put into that position.
First time he came to London was when he came for his medical. A few months ago he was in a team that was relegated to the 3rd tier.
To throw him into yesterday's match was both cruel and reckless.

Thought he was good considering. Won a lot of aerial duels. In fact there was a five minute period in the second half where Pool were pinging in long balls at every opportunity and he dealt with most if not all of them. Room to improve but for such a youngster he did well.

I'd keep the same pairing for the Leicester game. Vardy will be a handful, but it will be good training.

The boy was thrown into the deep end and did well. Rightly pointed out that he was more assured than Chambers.

Also he did pretty well in bringing the ball out of defense. Chambers was so poor on the ball.

It's not like we had a choice, would have been easily worse with Debuchy or Gibbs in there.

Bit slow to react defending on the box for the goals but the rest of the game was decent.

He did ok considering the circumstances. For 2 million he is definitely a bargain, even if he doesn't make it here we could sell him for a healthy profit.
