Sambi Lokonga: Sam Be the Man in Midfield?

Big ask for a young player still adjusting to PL having to hold up an entire midfield by himself.

Still did fairly well against Fabinho and co, should of had a great assist.

He had Henderson and Fabinho against him while esr and Ødegaard does nothing defensively. But he is expected to defend the whole midfield on its own

This guy is a decent talent but feel at the moment he lacks the bite and intensity you need to play midfield in this league. Against the best you come unstuck.

Hopefully he can develop this.

Looked lost as defensive midfielder. He is a Center Mid, however in the first goal for example you see Saka in the screen trying to reach Jota, but not him.

We've asked him to do the impossible lately and I feel for him. Hopefully, the next time he plays, he will be alongside an experienced partner who didn't just walk off the plane/bus so he can grow into matches.

If Lacazette buries his beautiful pass then this thread sings a different tune.

He has to improve, he is far from being at the level of Bruno Guimarães, Fabian, Locatellis of life, even Xhaka and he can't play Partey's role either.

Can't tell if Sambi is getting coached to play like this or what. Completely different player from when he first arrived. It's as if Arteta told him to play safe and in response he just passes every ball back one-touch without ever trying to turn. It's also clear that no one in the back 4 trusts him at all since they all tried their best to avoid passing to him.

Partey, Xhaka, (stupid reds) Arteta and Edu (for not buying anyone, ffs) have let this kid down.

Did his best, was decent-ish...he wasn't even the reason we dropped points, attack was poor today...least we will have an actual midfield back now.

He is the reason why the front 5 couldn’t score against the worst team in the league. Fvck out of here.

Guys was in a tough position but he has to show more. He never makes an angle to receive a pass, and today it was crucial he did that as he was the only real midfield player.

He needs that ElNeny squad role, 4th choice CM where he comes in for the cup games.

Mods are unethical! Özil, come assist me please!
He is playing like a Coward. It's different from when he first arrived.

Must be the rubbish coach of Arteta for him to play a negative style like this. Always hiding.

I mean, he is playing in the most important part of the pitch and didn't look to get on the ball once.
Actually the least important position in 4-3-3 where he is a sweeper. We gave Ødegaard and esr free roles with 3 men in front of them against worst team in the league at home. Come on now.
