This is such a puzzling signing when we have azeez. Watching clips of this guy I’m left unimpressed. The opposition he’s played against are awful and he still doesn’t look too special with the ball.

This is Arteta. Don't expect Azeez to be a factor at any point this coming season, he is not gonna rely on him in any capacity. By all accounts, the one they're seemingly really high on is Patino anyway.

How good is Patino and what qualities does he possess? and what about Omari Richardson?

This deal is not done until its signed. All we know is we have made bid and it got rejected and several teams are interested. Lets close this before we get all excited

how many times have we celebrated done deal only for the player to go somehwere else? Read the buendia thread, it was done deal and people were celebrating already. We have a history of failing on the last step when signing players

Patino is very good, very much in the DLP mold - perhaps even more than Azeez, who has #8-like qualities aswell. While Patino isn't potentially as complete, his tactical acumen is high for a midfielder of his age and he's a strong technical talent who uses the ball extremely well. We have quite a few graduates who are excellent progressive passers of the ball and Patino is certainly in the conversation as one of the best - and his dribbling is good enough to evade pressure very well. What's more impressive to me is the sheer amount of dirty work he gets done in the engine room - lots of smart tackles and sly fouls, despite his wiry build. To put it mildly, he is exactly the kind of midfielder Arteta would love to have.

The talk is that for the entirety of last season, they had him on a strength regimen to prepare him for first team football. They obviously think so highly of his technical quality and intelligence that they want him to be ready as soon as possible. Even Azeez, incredibly highly rated though he is, wasn't given this kind of consideration (in fairness, Azeez is probably one of the better athletes anyway).

As for Omari Hutchinson, he was the MVP of the U18 team last season, and had 9 goals and 9 assists. He's pretty much what you'd expect from a modern Hale End winger - excellent technician and dribbler, very good acceleration. Like Taylor-Hart, Saka and Nelson before him. Have a look at the West Ham Youth Cup game though - his work rate is bonkers. Real prospect.

Do you have any worries about Patino's small physique? He just looks so unsuited to senior football right now, he has that Mark Randall type frame.

Cheers mate! Future looks bright if we handle these talents well.

He's more slim than small. He's gotten quite a bit taller now, probably just below 6'0. Issue is really that he didn't have a lot of bulk on his frame. I had read multiple times over last season that they had him on some type of fitness plan with a PT to work on his overall strength and athleticism so they are definitely taking care of that area of his game.

Any news on Taylor Hart?

With all these hyphenated surnames that Hale End seem to churn out, when will we see Gussie Fink-Nottle sign for Arsenal? It can't be long now.

Here's a vid of Patino over the last couple of seasons - not a lot of clips but enough to get a sense of what type of player he is. Because of his left footedness and gait in possession, he gets a LOT of comparisons to Wilshere but they are quite different.
