Not sure why he wouldn't just go out on loan this year and leave on a free next season, if he is going straight out on loan from bayern anyways.
The security of a long-term contract with Bayern, and if he does well on loan he may be given a chance with their first-team next pre-season.

@Aevius's cool, calm iceman facade has finally cracked.

What exactly is Wenger supposed to do here? From what he was saying a couple days back he wants to keep him as much as you guys do. But if he's refusing to sign a new contract then what's the point of keeping him? He's unlikely to be playing many games for us this year anyway, so he's not exactly gonna be convinced to stay regardless.

This better be bullshit. Worst-case scenario, a buyback clause needs to be in place that we can abuse. Because this would be such a ****ing travesty otherwise, Gnabry is a big talent and giving him up to play the mediocrity we have up front is ridiculous.

Exactly. And don't forget we have Chris Willock and Reiss Nelson, big talents who are going to need game time. Keeping Gnabry would only have made sense if he had a chance of supplanting Iwobi/Ox/Walcott.
nevertheless its sad that we are losing him, i thought that moving campbell mean a new contract for this kid.

Arsenal have offered Serge Gnabry a new deal to keep him out of the clutches ofBayern Munich .

The German giants are interested but Arsène Wenger believes the player does have a future in the Gunners first-team.

Stuttgart-born Gnabry signed for Arsenal’s academy in 2011 but has only made a handful of senior appearances.

He impressed for Germany’s Olympic team this summer, however, netting six goals in six games en route to a silver medal.

Wenger is keen to keep hold of Gnabry but the player fancies the move and a fresh start.

Chamberlain, Iwobi, Gnabry, Willock and Nelson. A lot of talent and a lot of competition. It will be almost impossible to bring them all through.
