Giving him away on a free is a travesty. Nothing for Sokratis or Mkhi is POVERTY business and we wonder why we're struggling to pay Partey's fee.
we are saving bunch of money by giving them for free, if that's the real case, and if we cant get a fee (which is a common thing lately not only at Arsenal).
so in theory club is actually trying to get to their objects instead of just keeping the players on contracts that cant be sold and then play them, cause tou can't buy more...
It's up to you to choose are you gonna be realistic or will you go with pessimism

No way we're getting a fee for Sokratis. He's a limited CB, only got 1 year on his contact and is on over 90k a week wages. It's not an ideal situation but we need to just be glad we're getting some of these players out.

Saying that, Raul would have kidnapped someone's child to blackmail them into giving us £3-4m for Sokratis, if he were still here  Proper scumbag but I kind of miss him.

That applies to every player on our books. We could get rid of someone and we would be saving money on wages but that is not how you trade successfully in the transfer market. You need to get rid of the wages of unwanted players plus get some transfer fee. Also it is all good for people to say we need to free up wages and just get rid as we will be saving money, but then completely seem to forget the new player will be taking up the freed wages anyway (probably more as they're likely to be on higher wage). So if we are busy trying to give our players for free, where is the money going to come from to pay the players we want to bring in, both in wages and no doubt a hefty transfer fee?

As for being optimistic there are so many players who were in exact same situation as Sokratis yet their clubs managed to get a decent fee for them.

Ashley Young
Lovren
Fellaini
Lucas Leiva

Just a few examples from last few years. All players in their 30's, last year of contract, apart from Leiva on even higher salary than Sok. Yet all got sold for a fee.

It is increasingly looking more like an Arsenal problem. The fact that Atletico are refusing to pay a fee for Torreira and are only wanting a loan at the moment shows it isn't just an issue with our older, high wages, last year of contract type of players we have difficulties getting a fee for. Wolves were taking the piss too, offering £15m for AMN but didn't hesitate to spend £70m on 2 players who are arguably not better than AMN.

read less paper talk first of all.
2nd, it's not an Arsenal problem, everyone is having it now, and it's jot like we give all of our players for free.
we only did it with one so far, yet you'll make it sound like we already gave away half of.our squad.
that's why I say it's being pessimistic and not realistic, because we didn't give Sokratis away yet, nor Torreira, and we still can't see what's our plan with all thise moves and is it going to turn out to be smart moves or stupid.
yet, some like to rush it all, leaving pessimism to take them over and make up all this nonsense

What you talking about read less paper talk? I disagree with everyone having the same problem. Of course clubs are having difficulties shipping out deadwood, but the biggest problem they have is finding anyone interested in those players. We on the other hand have no such problems. Torreira, Mhiki and Sok all have had clear interest from clubs, they just didn't want to pay any fee for them. We even had a turkish club in for Elneny, again only on a free or loan. You can't see what happened with Kos and really think it happens to many clubs.

I didn't say we give all our players away, I said some people in here would be happy if we did. This season alone I have seen this being suggested with Mustafi, Sokratis, Kola etc. Last time it was with Kos. I was just saying we can't just give away those players even if admittedly they are harder to get a fee for.

I'm optimistic by nature so till the transfer window shuts I will be positive we will be able to have a good window.

And yes Sokratis and Torreira are still here because our club is rightly trying to get a fee for them.

But we can get a fee. A small fee at least. We’re just not able to. We as fans accept whatever narrative is told. Stronger business people will be able to get a fee. Marina Granovskaia would be able to get a fee, she got £160m off Hazard in the last year of his contract.

In before @HairSprayGooners comes in arguing about this stuff with me again.

It isn't just her. The bald cnt at Sp**s would be able too, whoever does the negotiating at Liverpool as well. But then again we have a history with this. We sold one of the best midfielders at that time for peanuts to Barca when the conditions were ripe for us to absolutely fleece them. RVP, Henry? Beyond pathetic.

Exactly. They never come into criticism for our poor business at selling players. It’s always been this way. Anelka and Overmars from eons ago remain to this day amongst the highest fees we ever got for selling players. It’s embarrassing and makes us look like pushovers in business.

Let’s not forget our terrible sponsorship or kit deals in comparison to our rivals either.

We did well last summer tbf. Still no idea how Raul managed to get the Iwobi fee.
