A sweet wage, but surely as a professional, winning trophies is your ultimate aim?
Can't say for Partley. But I am sure many players lost their ambitions.

For example the last two years of Özil. Clearly he has lost all ambitions and enjoying his big fat paychecks too much. He would rather sit at home and not play at all, than ask to move to another club.

Sanchez, on the other hand, still had fire in his belly. He left United quickly when his service was no longer required. He may have lost it but at least he's got pride.

Yes but in the absence of that you take solace in the wonga. Being brutally honest you have to think that he didn't leave Atletico because he felt he was more likely to win the league title with Arsenal. His case is not the same as say, Griezeman, who left for Barcelona for precisely that reason and must be kicking himself today.

Aguero has not even got his statue yet and has already confirmed he has joined the best club in the world. Barcelona. 🤣
