I suppose you're right.
I still think we should have done more regarding transfers in the attack.
We lack this X-factor player, clutch player.
City have Haaland, Liverpool have Salah.
Saka is closest to them in arsenal.

Saka is that player for us, he'll surpass Salah in time if he is managed well and remains injury free through his career.

What we need to do for Saka this season is get him into the box more. Not only to get a chance at goal but to drag those defenders to create that space for others to attack. He is our X factor and probably our most important player next to Ødegaard.

Still not enough to topple City though. We would need a collective effort this season, and everything to go for us to win the league. The first one will always be the hardest.

Have we got enough players in the squad who can come in out of the cold and drop a 8 or 9/10 performance when needed? Jorginho did this for us at times last season (Liverpool home game springs to mind).

Rarely have I seen anyone truly surprise me with a performance to say ‘Look I’m here, you should be picking me in the starting 11 for the next game’. Seems like a lot of them don’t have an incentive to do or play any better because of the way Arteta has managed this squad.

Fully agree with his Havertz point. He’s not a full striker to me and will never be that 20-30 goals a season guy.

We need a pacy striker - be it Isak, Sesko, Openda or that Swedish plumber from Lisbon.

They’ll open up so many better opportunities for Martinelli and Saka to get their numbers up.
What is this waffling from Wengz? The answer is King Kano obviously.

I saw this on X and thought it would be fun to do here. Which player do you think best fits each description?

Overatted player:

Underatted player:

Overhated Player:

Best Player:

Worst Player:

I'll go first.

Overrated player: Havertz. I won't forget the “most complete striker in the league” nonsense that some of you spewed.

Underrated player: Gabriel for non-Arsenal fans but within our fanbase I would say Ben White.

Overhated Player: Martinelli. He's upgradeable but the criticism he gets verges on disrespect. The issue with Nelli is that he is not as good as Saka, who is regarded as one of the best wingers in the world. It's like your mum comparing you to your cousin who got straight As and studied medicine. Being angry at me for not being as intelligent as my cousin doesn't warrant ridicule.

Best Player: Saka.

Worst Player: It's a three-way fight between Jesus, Zinchenko and Sterling.

Edit: I replaced Kiwior with Jesus because Kiwior has at least given us some decent performances in the last twelve months, unlike the Gingerbread man.

Mikel… Is this real?

Overrated player: Declan Rice

Underrated player: Gabriel

Over hated Player: Bukayo Saka (some of the stuff you see from oppo fans is just bizarre considering how good and likeable he is)

Best Player: Martin Ødegaard

Worst Player: Declan Rice (in context of everything, this is correct)

No agenda detecte…

Ah no wait. Never mind.

(I pretty much agree with all of @RunTheTrap ’s picks, although I feel bad for him that his mum thinks he’s thick, that must have been tough)

Rice is DEFINITELY our most overrated player, but I am open to changing the worst player one to show I have no agenda!

On a completely unrelated note, who is your favourite current player in the side...

Yeah I’ll accept overrated but worst is ridiculous

I’m not sure I like any of them in that way 😭. Saka is our best player, I’d put Ødegaard and Saliba just behind him and your buddy soft boiled just behind them.

The last player I really “liked” was probably Özil. These guys now, they’re efficient and hard working and all that but they don’t have the sauce. You can predict what they’ll do like 9 times out of 10. Calafiori might have sauce tbf but it’s way too soon to call.

I might have to go for Ben White just coz of the shíthousery you know. That’s mad for so many reasons...

Actually @RunTheTrap my most overrated player is probably Trossard not Havertz.

Number of times I had to argue with AM when everyone said he should be starting… although I think that era is over now.

Macho

Thinks he's better than Havertz.

Country: England
Overrated player: Rice and Havertz, Havertz far more egregious.

Underrated player: Our back 5 in general minus Saliba.

Overhated Player: City Boys for sure (Jesus and Zinchenko).

Best Player: Saliba/Ødegaard/Saka, wouldn't go out of my way to debate any of these 3 over the other.

Worst Player: Genuinely I don't think there are any bad players at the club, I will go with Kiwior though.

Overrated player: Rice.
Underrated: Havertz, for all the hate he's getting. 13 goals, 7 assists while coming here on zero confidence and people wanting him out is an amazing return.
Best player: Ødegaard. Just ahead of Saliba and Saka.
Most hated: Zinchenko.
Worst player: at the moment it might be Gabriel Jesus.

I find this interesting tbh as we've had a player who was on similar numbers but played only half of the minutes that Havertz was given with a significantly worse team around him. This is an amazing return for one guy; for the other, he was public enemy number 1, never good enough, and got banished by the club.

Think Havertz is not underrated, he is fine as a CF and everyone can agree with that, it's just that he is overrated by his fans, making the other camp hate him more

This is the part why I think he's underrated. A lot of people don't think he's fine. Also when he came here, he was a 65m flop, Chelsea fans laughed at us. He didn't hit a barn door with those tippy-tappy exercises in the USA in pre-season. He started as a midfielder and didn't do very good. Which wasn't good for his confidence either. Then he got that penalty at Brentford to get him off the 007 memes and whatnot.

He did very well last year and a lot of people still don't agree on that.

Arsenal Quotes

Thierry Henry was very quick at analysing everything that was going on and how he needed to react. This intelligence, this capacity to evaluate, understand and question oneself, is also the mark of great players... For everyone, for the fans and for us, he symbolised the golden age of Arsenal.
