His performance getting worrying i mean defensively he still solid but there lot of aspects he getting wrong his passing for example is way off his movement too when he get forward. Thing we'll need to convert him to CB and buy RB
He has always looked like a centre back who has made a decent attempt at filling in at full back to me. I hope he takes Holdings place next season and we bring in a specialist right back.

He is really good in the air too, plus two footed. He just needs to get his confidence back.

Tough to defend his performances of late. Must be a confidence issue because he's not this bad. Better that he's relegated to being subbed on to preserve a lead in the league now. Let White bring us home because even his bad games are nowhere near as putrid as what Tomi has produced of late.

I thought he looked okay in the opening 20 minutes or so, but his play deteriorated pretty quickly after, and he was rightfully yanked for Ben White. He looked good as a RB last year, so you have to think this is rust/a crisis of confidence stemming from the lack of playing time.

Our side back situation is something that I think will need some serious consideration in the summer. Zinchenko is obviously amazing on the left, but he isn't exactly an ironman, and Tierney looks to be angling for a move out. Meanwhile on the right, Ben White has established himself but he lacks a solid understudy or someone to push him to compete for the position. I would prefer Tomiyasu remain as a flexible backup; primarily he would cover for CB in the place of Holding, but capable of covering both side backs in a pinch.

Disastrous on the ball. Good to have versatile player in specific situations. Will never be our first choice player from now on I guess

He was very solid before the World Cup break but in his games since it's really been a struggle for him.

He's obviously capable of better than this but isn't on form at all and shouldn't be starting league games right now.

The guy was our best defender last season when he was healthy. People are too fickle lol.
He is a good defender. So is Tierney but he can't get a spot in the 11 either. I love both of them but being good on the ball matters for an Arteta team. Defensively he had no issues today as well. Just on the ball he didn't look good.

Think he is decent on the ball. Big Gabi isn't better on the ball than Tomi. I just think his confidence is shot especially since the world cup. His comments after were pretty concerning.

He has a terrible first touch, a liability on both defence and attack. Sell in the summer.

One of the big differences between this year and last season is where he finds himself on the ball. Last season we didn't dominate teams like we have done this season, far less games spent with our backs against the wall. We also played with outlets at left back with our right back playing a more inverted role opposed to being outlets which they have become this season, especially in the last 10 games. This has led to Tomi finding himself in the final third more often where his lack of skill and decision making as right back in more noticeable

White has kind of been able to make that adjustment on the fly and has the skillset to make the adaptation whereas Im not sure Tomi does. Still a super valuable option to have in the squad.

Yeah I think something is holding him back, mentally. It's like a switch needs to be flicked back on or something.

Tomiyasu is my boy, and I rated him highly because he reminded me of Sagna. Solid dependable, great servant for Arsenal. But let’s call a spade a spade. Tomiyasu has sucked this season. He’s making too many high-profile errors and at times a detriment to the team on and off the ball. I do wonder if the time has progressed past him or if it’s just poor form. The problem is we won’t fully know because there aren’t many games left for him to get a run of games to find out.

It just shows how quickly things can change in football. Last season Liverpool was a few from a quadruple, and now the best they could hope for is a top 4 finish. Last season Tomiyasu was one of our best performers, and now he’s Ben White’s backup. Even in the space of a season, your stock can crash like Bitcoin. I questioned if Gabby was right for us before the World Cup, and I was proven wrong to have ever thought of that. I queried Xhaka’s role as a starter last summer, but he’s been exceptional in this new role. I feel like we are maybe two seasons ahead of schedule, and because of that things can drastically change very quickly for some players.

I think it’s no surprise why we were after Fresneda in January, and I think we should repurpose Tomi as a CB for everyone’s benefit. The role is too taxing for him; he offers little in attack to justify his inclusion. I suspect those muscle injuries are due to him making intense sprints at fullback when his body is not built for that. He’s a 6 ft 2 75kg CB trying to play a role where the average player is 5 ft 10 and 60kg.

Judging by how upset the World Cup exit made him, he seems quite an emotional player...he has been disappointing this season, especially after how good he looked last year.

Maybe knowing that Arteta prefers Ben at RB, made his head drop a little and he can't shake it off...as what we are looking from our right-back hasn't changed much from last season, and as I said he was quality then.

That is true but it doesn't mean he should be put out there when he's clearly off form to the detriment of a title race. He needs to have a seat for a while.

I'm gonna have to nitpick a bit here but the avg full back is definitely NOT 60kg. My other sport is cycling & the top climbers in the pro peloton are like 62/63/64 kg (think Phil Foden type build) & they are so thin but their power to weight ratio & core strength is crazy. Footballers have different builds & most need to have good upper body strength, aswell as leg strength. I think most modern day full backs will be like 67kg or above, easy...

Remember 2 of the best full backs in history, Roberto Carlos & Paulo Maldini had quite different builds. Maldini was quite tall like Tomi is, & Carlos was shorter & stocky. Both brilliant tho.
