Takehiro Tomiyasu: Takehiro Today, Injured Tomorrow

A lot of teams will pay money. He is a quality player. The question is how much. Hopefully we can return our investment given his injury history.

When have teams paid money for a player as injury prone as Tomi? He'll stay and he'll come in and do a job here and there when injury free

We should never have given him that contract extension.

I like them both as players but with Tomi and KT you've basically got two less squad places.

Neither can be relied on, ship them out in the summer.

Tierney will be given away. Tomiyasu will another year ravaged by injuries is worth next to nothing either with his high wage. Then you have Zinchenko with his wages carries next to no value in the market either

I like Tomiyasu a lot as a player, he's generally always very good when he plays. But at this point he's essentially another Tierney and we need to get rid. Doesn't matter how much ability he has if he doesn't have the best ability which is availability.

"He's generally always very good when he plays" is the main takeaway from this. Given he can play cb, lb, RB and dcm I would think worth persevering with him as he could have an injury free period soon

I don't believe fully confirmed yet he is out, or indeed for how long.

As issue Tomi has often had is recurring injuries where rushed back, mainly as Japan have had key games but also where we have been short.

What thus makes no sense to me is the club gave him minutes before the international break, they would surely have been aware of this issue?

Some sense if he was called up by Japan again, but he was not.

I feel for the guy, clearly keen to play and been unlucky with recurrences. It is a real shame there is so much negativity to someone who has been very unlucky.

Agree with the general sentiment. Tomiyasu has been a great squad option player when fit. He was good in his first season and looked good last season. Think he had a period in his 2nd season where he was poor but that was about it.

However, I’m way too old for this ****. I don’t have energy for these types of players anymore. If it was up to me I would have sold him last summer rather than renewing.

He’s not fooling me. I’m convinced this dude is just that one POS coworker you have who always calls out taking mini vacations.

MIA all season and comes back just before the break with his hair done only to get crocked again? Yeah I see his pattern now.

Had he gone on intl duty with Japan and got injured I think my head would have exploded.

it's beyond a joke now, we all like Tomi but we are trying to win a league, it's not good enough to be a Rosicky and just give us 3 months of form a season anymore.

Tierney, Tomiyasu and Jesus are pitiful when it comes to fitness, complete crocks, I don't see many top teams carrying such injury prone players anymore. The intensity of games is really too high for you to not be robust

Gotta say man that was poetic.

Reece James & Ben Chilwell wave hello from Stamford Bridge & Luke Shaw waves hello from Old Trafford. I'm sure there are others but these are the ones off the top of my head.

*Weird how 3 of our most injury prone players are also fullbacks (KT, Tomi, & Zinny) !

Three months seems generous. Did you mean three games?

Arsenal Quotes

Robert Pirès was a fabulous player, world-class, and for a few years, before his injury, he was unquestionably the best left-midfielder in the world by far. He had incredible technique, he was smart, a finisher. He was a killer with a smile, the gentlest man in the world who suddenly drive the ball exactly where it was needed.
