Yeah I’m missing context ofc but this process is running out of excuses imo.

Maresca did nothing to get Chelsea into this tournament, they're there on the back of work Tuchel did ffs. What Maresca did was guide his team through a piss easy draw and pulled a blinder in the final against a better side. That's cup football for you.

It's no different to Wenger's last few FA Cups, we got good draws and then the one time we faced a team a tier above us late in the tournament we marshaled everything we had and did the business. Despite that, those cup wins did not fundamentally elevate our station as a club.

Maresca, thus far has not elevated Chelsea. They're still a 4th place team that won a cup. The "process" everyone keeps making fun of moved us from a legitimate 8th place team in the PL to regular title challengers and making deep runs in the CL. Even if Arteta can't get us over the line and has to make way for someone else, he deserves massive credit for walking us up to that line in the first place.

1. arteta spent more time at arsenal than maresca at chelsea, fact

2. maresca spent a lot money & arteta also spent a lot money at arsenal (in 5.5 season), fact

3. arteta have team who finished 2nd for three times in row which is way better team than mareca who only have squad with top 4 quality mix conference league quality, fact

maresca deliver major trophy help chelsea make legacy right now, so lets think about win now & lets not thinking about what will happen in future for chelsea club who probably will still compete top 4 next season because football its all about win competition now.

I think it's hard to tell the level of prestige yet because it's a brand new trophy. It obviously doesn't have the history of the Champions League, for example. And there were a couple of teams in it that at times made it look like a clown show.
I think with a few tweaks this trophy could become a big deal though. I like that they only hold it every for years. I think this has potential, tbh.
