All the clubs we’re competing with in the league this year, totally smashed our transfer record with multiple purchases this summer.
Chelsea-Mata, Lukaku

Why cant we have done this stuff earlier in the summer, could have got him for cheaper too. We leave it late, clubs are reluctant to sell because they then have little time to find replacements themselves.
Our transfer dealings needs some real attention as well as our negotiating new contracts with current players. Too often nowdays we're left looking like mugs

Actually we spend more than United this summer. But they havent sold anyone of note and we sold lots of players for around 70m

Interesting that Sp**s turned down 40M for Modric basically saying he is not for sales for any price, yet we couldn't do the same with Fabregas.

Apparently the window to loan players doesn't close until the end of September or so, so we could still get him on loan technically.

Couldn't do it earlier as we were, to a certain extent, waiting on the fees for Fabregas and Nasri - unless people believe we should have caved in to Barcelona's first paltry bid?

Nah, we've got cash to burn in the coffers. It could have been spent and then replenished by the Cesc and Nasri sales.

Yeah and about a four positions to strengthen
I think we've done well enough. Hope for a marque signing in July but think many here are writing off Arteta, Park and Gervinho without giving them time. I think we'll create enough for the vast majority of who we will play. Would have liked see Santos and Mertesecker earlier granted

Unfortunately. I could see Chelsea going for M'Vila next summer.. Mikel is just 'meh' to me.

Sadly agree, he'll be one of Europe's most wanted players next summer after the Euro's, a UTD or Chelsea will pick him up after for 25-30M and have a BOSS of a player. Love the guy, bordering into man crush territory, phenomenal player, gutted we couldn't pick him up this summer, it was now or never, at least we tried.
Think the player was keen on staying in France anyway with the Euro's coming up, another year he might have pushed for a move and our reported 23M could have done the trick.

Apparantly we had agreed a 19 million euro fee with Villareal for Santi Carzola and agreed personal terms but delayed allowing Malaga in. Thats what the Sunday times will claim tomorrow anyway

So we had bids rejected for Hazard, Gotze, Martin, M'Vila according to reports. But we could of signed Mata and Carzola but wouldn't pay the extra money?
