@MutableEarth I watched the u18 Liverpool highlights yesterday and all I can remember from it sadly was the most horrific miss I have ever seen by that Arsenal lad 😭

Like what happened there 😭 😭

Oh and Dowman is a freak but also I thought Annous looked really good.

In fairness, the ball was slightly behind him and didn't adjust in time. He ended up scoring a great goal in the end set up by Dowman's genius 👏🏾.

Yeah I'm really excited by Andre Annous, think he's filling the void at CF very well so far. He's quick, strong and very technically adept - seems to be getting into great positions regularly aswell.

I get what you are saying. Sometimes other talents can be blocked because of a considerably 'superior' talent at the time. Annous and Chido are agemates and coz of the latter, Annous played mostly out wide. Now he gets his chance, so hopefully he'll get to showcase all his talent . He's a bit like Joe Willock, was pretty tiny all through then past one year has experienced a growth spurt so he's still adapting to his newly found tall body and long legs.

In other news, Max Dowman . Wow! That's all I'll say. A year ago, I watched him and I already concluded he's the best academy talent I've ever watched at Arsenal. Aside from pure talent, he's got so much arrogance and confidence in his game already. I don't know how we stumbled upon him Nwaneri and MLS but I'm not complaining

The way he eat up the ground in some of the clips I saw was very eye-opening! I like him as a #9 a lot for this U18 team, he has a very nice blend of attributes in terms of his technical ability and athleticism plus his shooting is impressive. He's obviously not the finisher that Chido Obi is but there's more than enough time for that gap to close. Think we have a couple sleeper talents in Annous and Casey, but the former has a chance to really make a mark.

What's the deets on Teshaun Murisa? Saw him debut in the last game and he looked interesting. Jeorge Bird speaks highly of him aswell.

What's the consensus been on Wilshere's coaching ability?
His league results in the first season put him under scrutiny but he's improved significantly since last year. Tactically the team is incredibly dangerous and they also press really well from the front. He's also made some relatively brave selections that have led to the team looking very strong since the midway point of last season. Many put that down to Chido Obi's goals initially but the introduction of the likes of Ife Ibrahim, Theo Julienne, Louis Zecevic-John and Max Dowman among others really changed the team's physical and technical quality. Putting trust in the likes of Casey and Copley also gave the team more attacking impetus. This season, the entire team seems to be built with not just the first team but old school Wenger principles in mind. Ibrahim anchoring for Casey and Dowman while O'Neill and Bailey-Joseph flank Annous upfront. He's got quite the team currently, they're performing well - although the draw with West Brom put a bit of a dent into the team. Still think there's a few areas we could be better but he's done really well.

Glad to hear he's finding his footing, a good coaching career here would be a nice comeback arc after his career injury woes.

Does his tactics mirror that of the first team or does he have his own tactics that differ greatly from what Arteta does?

It's very similar to the first team, although I reckon they attack a little bit quicker. It's basically the same set-up in terms of roles and positions, only difference is that the RB inverts rather than the LB. The academy as a whole is very short on LBs. The one designated LB I can think of in the U18s is Camron Ismail. Thankfully Quesada-Thorn has returned for the U21s. Whereas there's at least 2 RBs that both happen to be former CMs in the U18s . Ife Ibrahim and Theo Julienne, with the latter assuming the RB role. I like his technical ability, particularly his dribbling. Ife Ibrahim on the other hand is more of a DLP from what I've seen, metronomic player who passes calmly and really well. @Afro Mugo put me onto a few of these guys before they hit the U18s last season. The midfield improved exponentially once these 2 players were put into the team, along with Dan Casey, Max Dowman and Louis Copley.

Ive always held the view that Wilshere is unfairly judged because he was a bit of a 'prick' as a player; and doesn't fit the accepted description of 'intelligent'. However, Wenger always spoke highly of him ; and he began coaching youth whilst he was still playing for Bournemouth and that team in Denmark so I'll say he atleast is passionate about the coaching. He is getting results with very young teams, which is not very easy at youth level. Most of all, players respect him a lot. He may not be Mikel Arteta ( how many truly are? And get to that level, only the very best. ) For me, he's showcased he knows how to push young talent

Murisa is one of those under the radar kind of talents . He's being behind Ibrahim Julienne (when he plays in midfield) and Dowman , who are outstanding talents , but he's very composed on the ball and very impressive passing. I think he'll be more visible when Dowman Julienne and Ibrahim are quickly pushed up.

Youth Cup final in his first season, albeit with a pretty talented team. I think he's done a really good job so far.

Wonder who gets the nod for the U21s first. I wouldn't be surprised if it's Dowman tbh but it's so early for him that the idea is a bit mad. I really like Ibrahim from what I've seen. He's the right blend of composed and aggressive, and I do like the way he uses the ball. Looks a talented potential #6.

I've never been a goalscorer. I've only owned goals. Good own goals.
