Who is better Kamara or Kabia?
Right now I'd say Kabia. He's easily the most improved player in recent times, bar maybe Josh Nichols. Both he and Kamara have game-breaking pace, but while I think that Kamara is slightly better in front of goal and better technically, Kabia seems to have a bit more aggression and uses his physicality a lot better. As such, he impacts games better over the course of a game. Kamara still comes across very raw, but you feel he could ascend quickly if he puts it all together. Kamara would probably play more games but Butler-Oyedeji is more experienced and is in good form for the U21s of late.

Butler-Oyedeji has just won PL2 Player of the Month for August.

Reward him with a place on the bench for upcoming games. Give him 5 minutes at the end of games. What’s the reward currently for playing well in the Under 23 team ?

Big day for Ismael Kabia. From injured reserve in the U18s to the first team bench in the NLD away in the space of a season. What an ascension. Maldini Kacurri aswell, huge vote of confidence - especially ahead of Zane Monlouis!

Interesting he was picked ahead of Butler-Oyedeji (think I agree in this instance, the latter is more experienced but I have doubts about his ability to affect the final 3rd regularly in competitive matches).

Painful watch incoming!

Looked alright 1st half but not sure who was meant to be playing where. Looked like Nichols was in midfield and Heaven LB. Just looked very flat-footed in the 2nd half. Didn't like that.

I've been somewhat less interested in the U21s this season primarily because there's only 2-3 regulars I can see potentially making a splash for the first team - mainly the deeper lying players. I think Rosiak looks very good and if Heaven doesn't leave I can see him building a case for himself but I think he'll leave. Touch and go with Nichols - he seems popular at the club and I think he's as determined as he is talented but he'll definitely have a tough time. I do like him though, think he's one of the better talents. I also have a weird hunch about Jimi Gower - just seems like the type of player to ghost his way into plans. Kacurri has the build and the aggression.

For me, Rosiak is the best in this bunch outside of the ones who've already played for the first team. The higher potentials are in the u18s team IMO, particularly the attackers. Andre Annous came on in this game, and I think he's the next #9 to really try his luck at making it. I'd like to see how he can do as the main man for this team once Edwards goes on loan (I think Edwards is good aswell tbh but think timing isn't on his side at the moment). It will be interesting to see what this U21 team looks like after January.

Goodness me what is up with Monlouis. He should be dominating these games at this level at his age or he's gonna find himself no higher than Vanarama South at this rate. He needs to be more aggressive in defensive situations. He's such a good ball player with the ball at his feet, but not aggressive enough when defending for me. Come on Zane you're our captain man!!!!

Pretty much. The real u21 gems are in with the first team or are just establishing themselves at u21 level. None of the regular u21 crew who have been at that level at any time have a hope of making it at this club beyond the odd sniff in case of an injurt crisis. The only ones really pushing are either MLS & Nwaneri, or have left, or have been loaned or have been sold. Bar the aforementioned Rosiak & Nichols, the rest are just waiting to leave on frees or be sold with a sell on clause.

its the u18s and those who graduate from there who are of interest.

Thought Zane and Awe were going to be the new Mertesacker and Kos lol. I still rate both of them though, looked like the best CBs the club has produced in years but Arsenal never does well with defenders, usually always midfielders, wide playmakers or attacking mids.

Find it interesting that both Ballard and McGuinness look to be having better careers so far. Awe and Monlouis really feel like near misses due to timing rather than talent but I think the kind of defenders they both are made it difficult for them. Both quite passive, ball-playing defenders and aren't aggressive enough. I think Awe is starting to build himself up a bit, seen he's playing for Accrington at the moment. Good learning curve for him. Monlouis seems a little downbeat since his poor loan at Reading, think a change of scenery will see him bring it back.

Feel there's a couple who could have had something. I'm a big fan of Kamara but he's stalled so far this season. Khayon Edwards also lost a lot of momentum after injuries and a hard loan at Leyton Orient. Still a bit of time for Kamara but feel after his start this season he needs a big push and perhaps a good loan.

The U18s at the moment are the most intriguing part of the academy this year. Wilshere's doing a pretty decent job, particularly with the attackers and there seems to be a lot more potential first team quality anticipated, even if only a few make the cut. There's guys going under the radar like Ife Ibrahim, Dan Casey and Theo Julienne who really look like they have a bit more about them. Andre Annous is already starting to make waves as a #9. There's much more substance about them this season compared to even last season when we had Chido Obi upfront. Think the only weak point might be central defence but our goals conceded seem to come from trying to play out the back rather than defensive mistakes.

I must say though I honestly thought Butler Oyedeji would be long gone a few years back but he has come on leaps and bounds over the last couple seasons. If he continues on this trajectory he will get a chance at an EFL club. Swansea and Bristol City were rumored to be after him in the summer.

Khayon Edwards has the ability but I worry about his physicality although he has grown a bit recently. He was injured so needs to get back up to speed real fast in the first half of this season then he may get a loan in January if he keeps the level up.

Monlouis had such a good opportunity to stake his claim at Reading as they were not doing well at all in the EFL L1 at the time. Tyler Bindon was probably their best defender and is now probably one of the best young defenders in the EFL L1 and he's only 19. Monlouis couldn't compete with him and he's older.than him... Lots of work for him to do if he's gonna have a solid pro career.

The build up okay was lovely for that goal. Our goal was conceded from a corner. And now it's 2-1 to the dons.

There was a passage of play earlier where Myles Lewis Skelly held off around 3 dons players with his close control and strength. He made it look so easy and the dons players tried to rough him up but ended up on their arses...
