I’m really not a fan of Butland but there doesn’t seem to be that many options, we certainly won’t spend the majority of our budget on a world class keeper like Allison or Oblak. I’d be willing to take a risk with Pope or Lafont, Cech may not be the keeper he once was but as a mentor I’m not sure there would be many better to learn from.


Unrelated but I’d also be interested to know what formation we’re planning to use next season, I’d love us to try a 442/4222, we may as well play to our strengths and we have two very good strikers for the first time in years.

Xhaka, Elneny and a new midfielder compete for the sitting midfielder role, could be Max Meyer or someone more defensive like Ndidi. Jorginho would be the ideal guy for this though. Further forward Özil, Ramsey, Mkhi, Wilshere (if he wants to stay) and Iwobi compete for the roaming midfielder roles. Isco would be the dream for this. Up top Aubameyang plays slightly to the left a bit like Ronaldo, Lacazette in the middle can drop deep and link play while Fekir plays to the right a bit like Salah.

I like but im just not comfortable with Auba wide when we need natural width. Off the ball that team would be shocking. I think you'd take out either isco/fekir and replace with a box-box CM.

If we got Isco I would be over the moon! Play him at CM alongside a strong sitting CDM and he would be like our new Cazorla I believe. Maybe Nzonzi alongside him.

Recent rumours suggest Allegri is going to be our new manager - IF true can he PLEASE bring back Szczesny and get Dybala to join us

If Stoke go down I wouldn't see a problem taking Butland, someone has to. I think 20m would do it, though if he started and had a good World Cup that would go up so maybe get him beforehand. I don't know anything about Horn and a lot of people don't rate Leno it seems. We're not getting any of the big hitters. I'd take Lafont at 20m too but he'd be a project.

Heck i'd gamble on Berahino

better goalscoring record than Welbeck

Ramsey and Mkith are then naturally pushed a little bit wider and can go on runs forward or out wide, and because Xhaka + the other CM are still centrally we are not as exposed

I actually think it would play to all our guys strength, even Jacks

so 4-3-1-2

I like Micki but he's too wasteful in possession at times. He can be our Lucas/Asensio. Supersub. Forsberg is a dribbler ala Isco.

A bit messy of a setup but everything is interchangeable, Forsberg especially works way better from the left, so in that instance Auba attacks the opposition's LCB, etc.

This would be football porn of the highest order, and frankly not much too ask for. Would get both for less than 50m imo.

Banega's a don for sure and he's enjoying the best form of his career, but he's flopped before and he probably wouldn't be able to replicate his form here. Best off trying to find the next great midfielder. Nice set-up though. 4-4-2's really having a renaissance in the European elite.
