Wishlist for summer (I update every so often)

    Lacazette (£70m), Aubameyang (£80m), Mkhitaryan (£15m), Elneny (£15m), Martinez (£8m), Mustafi (£15m), Kolasinac (£20m), Özil (£20m), Guendouzi (£75m), Mavropanos (£7m), Smith Rowe (Loan), Nelson (Loan), Sokratis (£12.5m)

    Saka (5 year= £75k), Torreira (5 year= £125k), Martinelli (5 year= £75k)

Cedric (free), Walter Benitez (free), Layvin Kurzawa (free), Lorenzo Pellegrini (£27m), Dayot Upamecano (£40m), Lautaro Martinez (£92m), Emi Buendia (£30m), Wilfred Ndidi (£70m), Said Benrahma (£15m)

What Arsenal are lacking IMO is players that are versatile so:

Buendia: Can play on the wings or attacking midfield
    Benrahma: Can play any wing
Pellegrini: Can play DM, AM or just CM.

And Martinez is an upgrade on Laca whilst replacing Auba. Can also give Saka and Martinelli whilst interchanging with Buendia and Benrahma. Ndidi gives us probably our best midfielder and Upamecano is an upgrade on defence. Kurzawa is a backup so Saka can play further forward and Cedric is also a backup. It would be a recipe for success with also Saliba coming too.

Ramsey is a 29 year old injury prone midfielder on 300k wages that previously run down his contract at Arsenal. Just because he has good movement doesnt mean we should sign him. I personally want Lorenzo Pellegrini, Ramsey has played 13 games this season and there is 10x better options. I reckon hes a poor Ceballos ngl, Ceballos hasnt had a chance and when he has hes played well. I know we need a rebuild, but don't buy players for sentimentality or a couple good attributes.

Interesting as Mikel seems to disagree with you. From what he has said he wants specialists in each position rather than versatile players. The marginalisation of AMN, his comments about Saka (a winger) at left back and wanting a left footed central defender certainly seem to point to this already.

Its just what if someone gets injured, you got to have versatile players. I think its recipe for failure if you go for players that only have 1 position

I can't say I disagree. I think that is what he is used to at City where they have 2 specialists in each position. I don't think we have the resources to build a squad like that though. My preference is maybe a couple of specialists in key positions and then a handful of versatile players. I think we have certainly suffered from only having one right back (Bellerin) and one defensive midfielder (Torreira) this season for example.

I don't know. He has a unique style. Can't see too many like him around

In: Dunk/Ake/Koulibailly, Mari, Soares, Dacoure, Ceballos, Gueye, Lemar.
Out: Mustafi, Sokratis, Holding, Kolasinac, El Nenny, Xhaka, Özil, Lacazette.

Add that to Salibah, Saka and Martinelli being developed further and we have a hard-working, physical team, which is versatile and adaptable.

    Oh, I forgot Coutinho.

We can build for two in each position. I think competition for places is something Arteta uses as a tool to pick his teams.

Players we have to sell based on contracts or quality:

    Auba, Özil,Mustafi, Sokratis, Luiz, Elneny

Players I don't think Arteta fancies:

Guendouzi, Torreira, Kolasinac, Xhaka, Holding. AMN could be on the list too.

    Gk: Leno, Martinez, ?????????
    CB: Saliba, Holding
    CB: ???????, Mari
    RB: Bellerin, ?????
    LB: Tierney, ??????
    DM: ???????, Torreira
    CM: ???????, Guendouzi
    AM: ???????, Willock
    RW: Pepe, Nelson
    LW: Saka, Martinelli
    ST: ???????, Lacazette, Nketiah

I think we will try and shift Xhaka and Kola and keep Gueneouzi and Torreira but not use them as main players.

Gk: I'd buy a young goalkeeper. We have been on the lookout so buying one and sending him out on loan is a good start.

Lb and rb: We need to find a young left back to compete with Tierney and the same for Bellerin.

Cb: I'm more willing to stick with Mari due to his age and left footedness. However a first team signing is needed in this position. I'd be happy with any one of Gabriel, Upamecano and Tah in that order of preference.

Dm: Gueye seems like the best bet.

Cm: important position. Do we go for a passer or athleticism? Well we have passers and struggle to progress the ball due to their athleticism.

Partey and Zakaria are the kind of midfielder we need but probably too expensive. Sangare is the next best thing. I think you then sell one of AMN and Torreira. Probably Torreira and you have Sangare, Gueye, Guendouzi and AMN as your options. Drop the cash on Bellingham, loan him back and sell Guendouzi the following summer.

AM: Jonathan David seems like a good fit.

Cf: Edouard for me. Good in the air, able to finish off both feet, good dribbler and can link play.

Gk, Rb,lb, Mari, Gabriel, Sangare,Gueye, Bellingham, David, Edouard.

I can follow your reasoning, but that midfield is definitely creativity and incisiveness (dribbling & passing).

Buying both Sangare and Gueye leaves you with only defensive units and a runner (Willock). I'd prefer someone in the mold of Aouar/Golovin to replace one of those two.

If we unfortunately had to sell Auba which I really don't want, would anyone consider Evertons Richarlison a genuine replacement considering he is only 22yo or there abouts?

Sangare and Gueye are not pure defensive units. They break lines with passing and dribbling. As much as Aoaur is a a talent he isn't statistically high in terms of key passes. I like Golovin in that respect. Much more athletic too. It's a shame because we basically had that player in Rene-Adelaide and sold him for peanuts.

A realistic hope for the summer:

    Sell: Aubameyang (£50m), Mkhi (£10m), Elneny (£5m), Sokratis (£5m), Kolasinac (£20m), Maitland-Niles (£20m), Özil (£5m)

    Long-term contracts: Saka & Martinelli

Incomings: Saliba, Soares, Mari, CM (£40m), Left winger (£40m), AM (£40m)

    Bellerin Saliba Mari Tierney

    Xhaka CM

    Pepe AM LW

    Martinez back up to Leno
    Soares to cover LB/RB positions
Saka/Chambers (when fit) can also be emergency back-ups
    Luiz/Mustafi/Holding for CB backups
Guendouzi/Torreira backup to Xhaka and new CM
    Willock backup to new AM
    Nelson backup to Pepe
Saka/Martinelli back up to new LW
    Martinelli/Nketiah backup to Lacazette

Not perfect - but about as realistic as we can hope for imo. We might see one or two very rough gems purchased in the <£10m bracket - maybe an additional CM/AM or Striker.

Thomas Partey and Milinkovic-Savic. Only signings we need. Would transform us completely, we would start dominating the midfield again which is exactly what we need

    Summer plans given current situation...

    Mavropanos (Luiz replacement)
    Smith-Rowe (Özil replacement)
    Willock (numbers-wise will replace Chambers/Holding)
