We'll win the league brother, I dont care with City do in response.

I was watching Leao for Portugal the other day, and they use him to hold the width on that left side. It allows him to not only be isolated in space, but it also leaves that left halfspace open for runs in behind.

Leao also gets closer to goal, along with Saka, with Havertz dropping into the 9.5 role behind (the tip of the diamond).

Stuff of dreams though, but I like the way you think.

I spotted that as well with Leao, like Saka, he can be isolate out wide but also lock down the entire flank. He can hold the ball, go 1v1, is a playmaker, can score. Hes got the added PnP as well. I’m convinced the guy is the ideal attacker for us.

He’s no where near as good unfortunately. It’s like comparing Jota to Mane.
Leao has a much higher ceiling but he's ****e mate.
Milan fans cant wait to see the back of him.
Milan themselves are begging for someone stupid to pay them something mad for him.
In fact, here's their president talking about it just recently:

—Saka Havertz Leao

GK, Tomi Kiwior Ferdi Onana Jorginho Vieira Nwaneri Martinelli Trossard Jesus

Ramsdale, KT, ESR, Partey, Sambi, Nelson, Eddie out.

Leao and FDJ take the 23/24 team up two levels. FDJ and Rice complement each other in midfield. What Rice struggles at FDJ is great at and visa versa.

Leao offers us X Factor, PnP, transition threat which is something we currently don’t really have.

Ferdi offers us creativity from fullback, and Onana offers us an alternative to Rice’s PnP. These guys are market opportunities, only go for them if we can get a good deal.

I believe the above squad wins the league by 5 points and is a major contender for the CL.
Like this a lot, but for me it still lacks a creative midfielder that can backup Øde. Vieira not good enough imo.

Also would like a left footed RW as cover fod
Saka. Jesus could do it, but he’d be the main option behind Havertz at CF and don’t think Martinelli or Trossard will do a good enough job on the right

I'd love to bring Eze home if we can keep him fit, but I haven't seen any links recently. It's unlikely Palace will sell both him and Olise, but they would be incredible signings.

Frenkie De Jong as the backup 10?

Don’t think we’d play Rice at 6. I wouldn’t. So that still leaves backup for Øde. Even if we would, De Jong is more of dlp and not a chance creating am.

Would you consider Jorginho an adequate backup 10 alongside Partey and Rice? That’s the most similar profile imho.

For me it’s not enough.

Just to mention that I ask the above as others will have more in depth knowledge as to what we need and their actual skill set.

Havertz has worked as he fits what we need once back to his best, it took a while but the confidence is back.

We seem to be linked with players on the up but who are risks, the worry is now we decide we need a forward but given we do not rotate in they get similar minutes to Eddie or reiss. At least with the man utd duo there may be an argument they are true game changers on their day.

I ask about mudryk too as player swaps with other big English teams may be an option to move on those needing a new environment, and getting someone from another club needing the same. Would a swap involving ramsdale out and mudryk in potentially work for us and keep values of both players artificially high?
Mudryk and Rashford both are terrible i don’t want either of them ever in an Arsenal uniform

If we’re considering Rashford then consider Leao.

Leao
Frenkie/Bruno
Ferdi
Doue/Simons

Spend 250m on that, and let’s go for it.

Get Williams instead of Leao. His is much cheaper in terms of fee and wage.

Italy gave him the Saka treatment by posting 2 defenders at him everytime he has the ball. Imagine his and Saka in same team will cause nightmares to every defenders.

Agreed, but I think you get the added creativity of having Leao out wide.

The elephant in the room, is that if we sign any forward player this summer, we’re going to likely have three players who want to start on the bench (for example Jesus/Trossard/Martinelli).

I think eventually it would make sense to sacrifice one of those guys for a guy that can play centrally or out wide. Maybe an Eze type.

What’s absolutely imperative this window though, is to get that midfield player that can take the ball off the back 4, and a forward with 1v1 and transitional threat.

You know, since 17/18 we have only spent money on 2 wingers, Pepe and Trossard. We got really lucky with Martinelli and Saka.

With players like Havertz, Rice, Partey, Ødegaard we are setup to have wingers create in isolation with space, I would like to see one super winger providing proper completion and spark. Could you imagine Alexis in our team now with Rice behind him, both winning the ball high?

I just don't know quite who. You are sort of just speculating that a player can take it up a level. Williams doesn't score much, Rashford needs motivation, Leao flatters to deceive, Kvaratshkelia lacks burst of pace, etc, etc.

Maybe someone left field, like Kudus? He has a habit of holding onto the ball too much. Everyone has doubts on their game.

Sell Martinelli.

At least GJ can be quality Saka backup and offer a different profile at 9,. Yes he's injury prone, but Martinelli is shaping up to be injury prone as well. It'd also be a good opportunity to begin shifting our club's reputation as one who only sells long expired deadweight to one who actually sells valuable, young, decent players that other clubs want.

I always see our fans talking about how you can't blame Martinelli for his poor season because of how isolated he was on the LW, and how chop and change our left flank was. But for a team looking to progress to elite Real/Bayern/Inter levels, a winger shouldn't have to rely on getting his hand held by an overlapping fullback to get GA. Look at other elite wingers like Leao, Kvara, Salah, etc, they're able to make things happen and dominate the flank by themselves. Even within our own team, Trossard was far more productive in the same system.

I think you keep Martinelli. His pace, directness and off the ball work is a real weapon to have.

I’m completely with you on the winger being isolated thing. If you ask any winger they’d love to be isolated out wide, without other players clogging up their space. It’s just not an excuse for Martinelli’s poor season.

I think teams figured him out, he struggles cutting inside when 1v1 meaning he was pretty easy to defend.
