Mosquera is about as good a backup for Saliba as there is. We don't need yet another CB. We need an actual RB to back up Timber.

Agreed, but maybe I'm thinking we send Mosquera on loan. He's too good to be on the bench, but if Saliba’s injury is more severe than initially thought, I wouldn't want him starting that many games.

I could even understand a back up LCB if we moved Hincapie and Calafiori full time to left back.

Even then, Salmon isn't far away from being ready for emergency minutes. The ideal signing is probably a more traditional fullback who can play both sides of the pitch like a young Cancelo type. The rest of the money needs to be invested in the attack and midfield.

We want 2 players for every position. There's no logical reason to send a player like him on loan. If he moves it will be because somebody pays a big fee for him at some point but for now I'm quite sure he's more than happy to have gotten a lot of gametime and already won the league at 22 or whatever he is. He's exactly what you want in a rotation option, good enough to start some matches and deputize for the generational player in front of him rather than being strictly a bench level player.

Do you guys want to hear my most unpopular transfer wishlist to date? I think Harry Maguire, for a cheap fee, would be a pretty decent Saliba backup. Now before you throw your pitchforks at me, just hear me out. Maguire isn't the same dunce that made his mega move to United. He's matured and makes far fewer errors than people realise.

Of course, I'm picking Lacroix to be the Saliba backup, but it's not a crazy shout. Watching England in this World Cup has reaffirmed my belief that Maguire is England’s best defender in competitions. Yes, Stones, James, Trent and Guehi have achieved more in their club careers, but they're fortunate to be in a setup that doesn't send them to their deaths. When Maguire is in a system that hides his deficiencies, he is as solid as they come. If you could pick ONE defender to play in England’s next game, I don't think you could discount Fridgehead

I like the idea. However, he is earning a fortune at United and not worth it as a back up for Saliba.

I see no reason why Ndiaye would be much cheaper than any of these guys. He is approaching his peak years, is under contract for another 3 years, and has made no noises about wanting to leave. Everton can ask for whatever they like.

Will play devils advocate and say it feels like “damaged goods” cause he hasn’t really progressed since the last couple windows we’ve been linked with him. He’s definitely capable of turning his career around though. Still so young at 23 and obviously talented. Seems like injuries won’t let him shine, but football wise the guys already proven.

He should be cheaper than a couple of seasons ago as well. Could be a great pick up if he can get his sh’t together.

That said I’ve never really been that impressed with him. Reminds me of a (really) old school FIFA game where you were just shoving the ball in the direction you were running

I think the damaged goods part is him not wanting to leave Bilbao where he's comfortable, and his long list of reuccuring injuries. Such a talented player, but probably not made for the top clubs. Seems to thrive in the "big fish in a small pond" kind of way.

Anyway: I'm still dreaming of us getting players this summer to push that quality
LW signing 1: Rogers. If not, then Yildiz. If not, then Tzolis.
LW signing 2: Barcola. If not, then Nusa. If not, then Ndiaye.
CM signing: Bruno. If not, then Nmecha. If not, then Bouaddi.

I'd be happy with pretty much anyone of those. Vini jr, Mbappe, and Kvaratskhelia aren't coming no matter how much we dream about it, and for CF we'll get neither Kane or Alvarez. It has to be a talent, not someone proven sadly. But atleast we have Merino, Gyökeres and Havertz.
