SMH. Some of the recent comments on here really are childish. What he does personally has nothing to do with football so should therefore not be discussed on the forum IMO. The guy scored 19 goals across all competitions last season so statistically, the numbers are pretty good. There are a quite a few premier league starting strikers who played week in week out who did not get anywhere near those numbers. He has started pre-season looking very sharp and has forced his way into contention under this new system which alot of you thought would not happen. Give the guy a break, what he earns has nothing to do with anybody!
When did he force his way into contention? He's not going to play instead of Özil, Alexis or Lacazette. He's not going to play wingback. Giroud is a better option off the bench if you need a goal, Welbeck is better to close a game out. He's third sub at best, in a game that is already won.

Discussing someones philosophy has everything to do with how they are on the pitch. I believe inside Theo is a very serviceable forward, but He is mentally weak, is easy to get under his skin and easy to bully out of a game. He needs to realise his limitations and make the best of what He got and even then you can't rely on him defensively, made old gripper baines look world class in our first of the season PL loss to everton Dec 2016.

'Good' challenge is too vague and weak.

If someone asks you what you want to become? Do you just say you want to become good? or great or exceptional?

Do you want a good challenge or a great challenge? Or even better, a great challenge is an absolute MUST?

Even his words breed weaknesses and negativity.

Seriously? You are picking on him because of his word choice. You are just biased. An unassailable fact however is that he provides goals. 19 of them last year.

Only 10 goals are in premier league.

And this is only the second time in 12 years that he hit double digits in the premier league.

06-11-2016 Arsenal 1 : 1 Tottenham
19-11-2016 Manchester United 1 : 1 Arsenal

12 won, 5 draws, 7 losses

Meaning 10 games WITHOUT Walcott,
9 wins 1 draw.

He forced his way into contention based on his pre-season form. Although he should have scored more, he does get himeself into good goal scoring positions with his off the ball movement. We start the season with Alexis and possibly Özil not being fully fit so he strill has a chance.

Not sure what people expect from him defensively. He is essentially a forward, not a right midfielder. The system we play now will allow him more freedom to do damage further forward than rely on his defensive abilities. BTW Goodison Park was a fortress back then so no shame in losing to them when they were in such form.

That's not what We expected, that was one of His rolls when in front of a back four,He started off last season with all the intent in the world, tracking back defensively, loads of people raving about how He had transformed and improved in that area, but that fizzled out, the Everton mention had nothing to do with their defensive solidarity, it was to do with how limp He was defensively, He also was not pressing high. On Everton's goal He tracked back about 50 metres at break neck speed to block Baines's cross, when He got there He stuck out a cursory toe, Baines mugged him off cutting in, Theo still had chance to recover, but limply stuck out another toe, either time a nice two footed lunge could have sufficed, other players would have taken man and ball.

I think there is a player there, could probably do a job for us against certain opposition, can score against the likes of Chelsea, Man city, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, but gets psyched out against lower sides?

YeahBee

Terrible hot takes
Believe he is now very aware of his limitations and is happy to be a role player at a club of Arsenal's size.

Sell him.

yes and I still think that he can play to his strenghts with a manager that sets up his team more rigid/classical and be very succesful

or maybe justh ead of the the US and run past everybody
