They are called Referees and they are TERRIBLE

Do you think refs consciously treat Arsenal differently than other teams?

i love this, many player will call out referee after match in next game when everytime referee make controversial decision
Grealish did it as well after Everton's game against Liverpool.

Have PGMOL finally jumped the shark?

Until the PL clubs band together and do something about PGMOL, this **** will keep happening. Most fans are too thick to see the forest from the trees and they happily laugh at other teams who get bent over by PGMOL, maybe for once if we all came together and put pressure on, we'd see some change.
It does need mass action

Horrific performance once again. When are these guys held accountable?

This is absolutely ****ing spot on and it’s what I’ve been saying since the incident to Arsenal and non Arsenal fans.

The 2 main topics here which mean this was a joke of a decision:

1. Pope’s contact with the ball hardly changed the direction of it, Gyokeres was still getting to the ball in a dangerous area and is cleared out
2. There is no way in ****ing hell that it was a clear and obvious error by the referee

And yet all the discourse is about the Gabriel handball even though Bruno made a more obvious handball in the game (as he literally moved his arm to block the ball) 😂 you can’t write it.

Webb's wording is poor, with "not really contact" what he really means is more that "it's a fair challenge". Pope's touch is minimal, but is enough to send the ball away and from the way he moves his body after it is clear he's not following through with the intent of bringing down Gyokeres, so it's a fair challenge and not a foul even if there's contact. This is a contact sport, Pope contested the ball, "won" the contest as his little touch is enough to deflect the ball away from where Gyokeres intends, and the contest wasn't made in a reckless or clumsy enough way to call it a foul.

Couldn't see that game but the tweet you link here has the guy laughing at the decision of that stomp being called as a foul, Do you think it's a foul? The refs already had a fun time with a similar call on Fulham vs Chelsea with Fulham's disallowed goal. A stomp is just an easier sell for the attacker, the window where you can call it reckless is a lot bigger, then again what exactly could KDH have done there to avoid contact.

You will never get consistency, not because the refs are all from Liverpool or whatever, but because they're human and you get a different one each matchday and each match is different and requires a different approach. If anything PGMOL is giving us some desired consistency by bringing our good luck charm Gillett for most matchdays, it does sound a bit suspicious.

Veltman got the ball, his trailing leg caught Fernandez
Free kick, Yellow card Veltman

let's just say Pope touch the ball first, which I doubt
why is Veltman yellow carded here? this is a much cleaner tackle than Pope's knee

If that's a foul, than Pope on Gyokeres is a penalty + red card

How is this bald **** allowed to keep gaslighting. I bet he was a bent copper as well.

This guy needs to be locked up. He and the PGMOL’s number 1 priority should be making sure games are being refereed fairly, with consistency and a high level.

Instead, he just gaslights, lies, and manipulates + uses tactics such as keeping close ties with the media, to cover up his ineptitude as a leader of an organisation.

It’s a really sad state of affairs especially because I believe we suffer the worst from this.

The challenge he got booked for on Monday night was an absolute disgrace. It was a great tackle.

He was also the one who got booked for taking a quick free kick in the Merseyside derby. Which I've never seen happen before in my life.

I saw a clip of the challenge he got booked for on Monday and I just couldn't believe it was real. Like what the **** is going on?

I do think it shows it's not just us who get screwed over. The standard of officiating in this country is shocking. The worst I've ever seen in England I think.

It's why I get so frustrated when opposition fans don't see the big picture and try to gaslight me into thinking that obviously bad decisions are actually the correct ones. Mate, we're all in this together, all our teams get screwed by **** decisions and until the clubs band together on this, nothing will change.

I watched Gala vs Liverpool last night and Trossards brother was reffing.

He let the game flow, did the basics right, made an error awarding Liverpool a pen, had 2 looks at the VAR screen and changed his mind. No fuss, no drama or theatrics and he was reffing under massive partisan home support in the stadium and howls every time he gave Liverpool a decision.

He just did his job, I don't understand why we don't have refs like that in this country.

I caught the last 15 minutes and it was such a stark contrast to how VAR is used in the Premier League - 'clear and obvious' should be able to be discerned within one or two views. It was so clear that the Gala defender got a clean touch on the ball whereas Gillet and England are taking 4-5 minutes+ to come to a conclusion. It's just obvious that the Gyokeres penalty incident was re-refereed; VAR isn't some difficult concept, we just happen to have complete incompetence in those who operate it.

It should be used like umpires call in cricket for an LBW.

VAR shouldn't be used for judgement calls. Even if the VAR guys think 75-25 that the ref has made an error, there's not enough evidence there to overturn the decision.

If you have to watch 7-8 replays then it can't be a clear and obvious mistake.

I'm still yet to see a clear touch from Pope despite watching 20+ times in super slow mo. The fact that Webb thinks it's obvious there's a touch is mind boggling.

Even if he touches the ball he's still cleared out Gyokeres and stopped him taking part in the next phase of play. It's a clear pen. These nerds are overthinking stuff and not seeing the blindingly obvious.

Even weirder for me and I haven't heard anyone mention it yet, after overturning the pen decision the ref gave a drop ball to Newcastle but when he blew initially for the pen Saka is already in full control of the ball in a very dangerous area to the left of their goal in the penalty area.

How haven't we received the ball back in that area? Because from the moment of Gyokores first touch to the second he blew the whistle it's an Arsenal player in control of the ball, in a very threatening area, pen or not. Pope or even any Newcastle player never have control of the ball.

Arsenal Quotes

I was receiving offers from many other clubs and declining them all, even the most tempting ones. Juventus, Real Madrid, PSG contacted me, Bayern, France, England...I am happy to have been able to say no to more glory, more money, and to have been guided only by the idea of loyally serving the club. I had knitted myself a soul in Red and White.
