• To all AM members and guests.

For the start of the new season, Arsenal Mania has relaunched the news side of the site. All articles are written by genuine Arsenal fans with no hidden agenda. You can visit the site via the menu at the top of the forum pages or go direct to our homepage

Additionally, Arsenal Mania is now sending all its registered members a bi-weekly Briefing Bulletin containing a digest of news and views from both parts of the site. Some of you may have already received the first edition and those that haven't should do so before the big kick off against United. If you are a guest visitor to this forum then if you join as a member, you will automatically receive the Bulletin.

Please support both these initiatives and help ensure the long term future of our site.

You may discuss this in the thread

They are called Referees and they are TERRIBLE

Do you think refs consciously treat Arsenal differently than other teams?

The discussion about this entire case just shows what is wrong with refs and VAR in EPL.
For me, It is not really about the decision itself. I thought the idea that it was offside makes sense, but reading into the rules makes it sound like it should not have been offside. I can see both points of view here and maybe I would be super frustrated if I was a liverpool fan. That is ok.
What really frustrates me is the parameters people are talking about to say whether its offside or not. People are saying "Donnarumma would never have reached there". Carragher goes ahead and makes a video where he is looking at Donnarumma`s movement every second and finds that he took one step to the right and thus apparently he was never going to save it. So the parameter which we are looking at here is the capabilities of Donnarumma or his split second decisions during the particular incident.
The VAR or ref is now supposed to take a call based on these factors apparently.
For me, I thought it was offside simply because macallister was on the line of the ball as it went into the goal and was in an offside position. He had to duck because the ball would have hit him otherwise. Thus, he was impacting the play by being in that position.
Maybe This logic is completely wrong, but whatever the rule and logic is, it should be as objective as possible.

Surely Howard Webb must resign after gaslighting us on Mic'd up?

At least it shows they are all completely incompetent. We have refs, linesmen, VAR, PGMOL to look at **** and an independent commission along with most of the football fans agree that they are wrong.

Remember Oliver putting out a statement because people said hurty words on the internet when he screwed their team over? It was Liverpool fans, not Arsenal fans but he blamed it on us to deflect from the overturned MLS red.

This is the first game of ours he has refereed since then. He will be GUNNING for us.

for any young ones

However, Dean instead singled out Ferguson's rival and former Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger.

Speaking on The Overlap Fan Debate, he explained: "I never got on with Arsène Wenger.

"I don’t know what it was, I don’t know whether it was because every time I refereed their game, they lost. Every time I went to Arsenal, it just didn’t feel right.

fun fact, we didn't lose every game when refereed, he certainly tried to make it reality tho

Do they think this is Sunday League football? The amounts of money involved and yet nobody is intervening. I'm speechless

Arsenal Quotes

I still have an interest in training and development, in the stages that make it possible for players first to acquire technique (between 7 and 12) and then to develop physically (between 12 and 16), then to deepen their mental resilience (between 17 and 19) and finally between 19 and 22 to acquire what is critical, like the roof of a house without which all the rest rots away: intelligence and motivation
