Partey has been playing well even when AM was hyper critical of him.
Merino showed some signs of why he was brought in. He's not fully up to speed yet for sure but winning a duel deep near the byline I believe was a sign of duel winning Arteta had in mind. Hopefully, this pans out to setting up chances for Martinelli if he's going to cut inside or maybe Rice or Trossard depending who's near him. Fans are way too impatient and we've had a lot of inconsistencies to structure due to cards and injuries.

I think it would be a bad idea personally.
We have quite a large dataset on Partey, and this so far has looked like his most fit season yet. I think that’s pretty suspect, I link it to the fact he’s in the last year of his contract.
What will happen once he knows (consciously but even sub consciously) that he is in the clear (even more so than before), on his last big contract?
IMO being mentally on the beach = more injuries. Even if he is not consciously looking at it that way. These are athletes playing in the top 0.001%.
For me it would have to be a severely reduced contract to cover the risk of above.

Yeah I agree, I just think it’s what the club/Arteta would be very tempted to do.
Given our lighter summer this year, we’re going to need 2/3 top players through the door next summer to add to what we already have, so giving us another player to replace may be just too much of a headache for them.

Partey don't deserve new contract because he didn't fulfill his potential with us he spent most his contract injured and of course this off field issue.
