Thomas Partey: Body Falling Apartey

Don't think he's been as near as bad this season, as people seem to think.

He's not been Atletico Partey, but Atletico are a better team than us...only someone like Vieira or Davids could come into our team this past year and be amazing straight away, no shame in having a few poor games for a team that is on the up, but still somewhat in a transition.

West Ham, Leicester, Villa and Sp**s... he's had some amazing games this season...think we will really miss his presence out of the ball and in the defensive phases of our game, when he is at AFCON, no one else offers us that.

Overall, he definitely could still improve and be more consistent, but he's still been good.

He’s definitely not been worth the admission fee, no debate, an interesting question though is was it a mistake to buy him instead of Aouar for 50m? I was a huge Aouar fan, but with Ødegaard and ESR here now for 35m combined, idk, there’s an argument that Partey was still a good choice between the two.

He’s still way below par though. Maybe he’d benefit from a proper technical leader next to him, someone like Xhaka but with a brain and two feet.

He needs to be carried slyly despite all the claims that he does all the carrying. A handful on clear MOTM's aside we can see over a prolonged period that this just simply isn't the case.

I didn't watch Athletico which led to his transfer fee, only his Ghana matches so I can't comment on his midfield partners back then.

His age and salary though, he could be just chopped outright and we go again in the summer.

Not convinced by him. He is not a leader in the true sense especially for the amount of money spent on him. His technical level is A bit dodgy for what we need in the middle.

My hope is that Lokonga can eventually pick up some positional play from Partey and then eventually usurp him. Or we go in hard for Tielemans over the summer.

The issue with Partey has been the effort needed for this league. His body has not adjusted to the rigor and he always seems to be in recovery mode.

Talent wise, we are still better with him in than the others mentioned, but he does need to step it up. I am surprised to see so many dribbling past him this season.

If we can keep him until after NYD he’s probably only missing two league games.
Their first game is on the 12th. He'll probably need to reach early for any quarantines if required. So doubt he stays still new years. Wolves likely to be the last game.

His defensive presence is being underrated because of his underwhelming performances offensively. Yes, he hasn't been the ball progressor he was for Atlético, but he's a big part of our solidity in defense.

Really hope we still have him available for the Wolves game next week before he leaves for AFCON, that's an absolute must win.

Think more people will see how important he is to us next month, still a big presence for us even if his performances are up and down.

We might have to go 3 at the back in some games, without him.

3 at the back we already do that in our buildup, can’t see us playing an extra cb with tomi.

Even though he hasn't been great lately, i think he is being underrated. People are forgetting how poor our midfield was before he came. We were constantly getting overrun in midfield. His athleticism also benefits Xhaka a lot. Xhaka suddenly looks suited to the PL.

+1 there was such a noticeable dropoff in our build up play when he came off for El Neny. The work he does back there seriously getting underrated by AM. Idk what we're gonna do during AFCON. Need Sambi or AMN in there, but even those two are gonna be a dropoff compared to Partey. Getting someone like Renato Sanchez or Guimaraes would be good insurance if we want to maximize our Top 4 chances this year.
