Thomas Partey: Body Falling Apartey

Crying, Wilshere-Frimpong-Ramsey was supposed to be our midfield for a decade.

No idea how Frimpong was ever rated at the club tho, guy was so average and a complete clown.
The amount of awful players that played for Arsenal during the Emirates years is actually shocking. Like we were going into big European games starting guys like Squllaci and Silvestre.

You’re obviously not taking the Champions League seriously if you’re playing Bayern with Yaya Sanogo up front.

Completely forgot that dude ever played for us. Somehow over his career he averaged less than 9 league appearances a year. Potential over production I guess.

He's been playing virtually as a lone 6 for a while now and is really starting to quietly flourish. I'm not sure why it's not been talked about more his role and how well he's been playing specifically in said role. It's like what Pep did with Fernandinho who came to City as a box-to-box midfielder (tho Pellegrini also played him deepest at times when partnered with Toure).

This is Wenger's philosophy; he believes in these players. Not everyone makes it or is up to standard but you have to back a manager of Wengers stature on his judgement of talent.

We've talked a lot on AM about replacing Xhaka in the summer, but supposing we do qualify for CL do we also need to bring in cover for Partey or do we make do with what we have? If Partey goes down, our midfield quality drops a lot like during January and our entire team struggles.

Lokonga will be the immediate backup to Partey. And yes it is a significant drop but I can't see us signing someone else for that position, at least one that's a specialist 6. Xhaka if he stays *can* play deepest but I think Arteta is now reluctant use him there anymore for obvious reasons.

If we make CL Lokonga needs to be loaned. He needs game time and currently isn't good enough for Arsenal.

Since we've made him the holding player he's beginning to look like the player we thought we where getting. Defensively he is absolutely quality and he's a much better passer with the pitch in front of him. Closest thing to a Gilberto replacement that we've probably ever had.
