Thomas Partey: Total Eclipse Of The Part-ey

Yousif Arsenal

Was on Vinai's payroll; misses 4th place trophy 🏆
I think he got tired in 2nd half but 1st half he was absolutely dominating Bissouma he was vital in our 2nd goal.

I'm just amazed with how this season going with injures he decided to stay fit

Made a few nice passes and deserves credit for the tackle for our goal. It was a good first half.

I think he blew himself up first half tbh. At stages of the second half he was almost immobile. Rice was doing half his job on top of his own.

Problem is when Partey tires that's when the brainfarts and sloppiness really kicks in. Fortunately it didn't cost us today.

He's one we have to carefully manage the minutes of.

I swear you guys watch a different game to me sometimes. He was beaten for pace / lost his man a few times in the first half. Don’t get me started on the second.

People forget what the D in DM stands for sometimes I swear.

He needs a rest tbf.
Like you said before, too much football I guess. He has never played this much football in an Arsenal jersey. He's definitely jaded. Now I understand why midfielders get praised a lot - it's a lot of work.

I just wish our forwards could be more proactive and clinical enough to enable the midfielders have a little breather in games.

I see it too. And not sure if its because he is tired either. Imo he has been very weak at defending his zone this whole season. Some midfielders have powered through him like a hot knife through butter.

Nah last season he was diabolical at times but this season he’s had a lot of games where he was back to his imperious best which mudded me coz I was sure he was done at this level.

Even at his best he doesn’t offer the same protection as Rice does on an average day but his on the ball game is obviously levels above.

What I will say though is that you often see Saliba having to come out and proactively defend a lot more when Partey is playing at 6 and that’s not Saliba’s natural game. It’s why a lot of people think Saliba was better in past seasons etc.

Nutmegged for the first goal and we nearly conceded a second due to him hesitating and his sloppy passing. As usual, his defensive positional awareness is non existent.

We need to move on from Partey. Still a good player on the ball but off it he's too slow at closing players down (though he did well for our 2nd goal).

He's a interesting DM.

You feel he's poor defensively, but key to our attacking game...only at Emirates Arsenal 😅

One of his worse games this season. There seemed to be acres of space in his area of the pitch and I found myself wondering where he was.

He also let their player shoot at the edge of the box instead of closing them down properly, and didn’t chase down Son or whoever it was on the counter attack.

Not his best showing but probably a 1 off.
