Petit left in 2000 and Gilberto wasn`t signed until 2002 so for two seasons Vieira played either with Grimandi, Gio V B or Parlour. Not excatly world beaters though I loved Parlour and rate him highly but I think Wenger knew that with Vieira in there you`d dominate the midfield regardless. A truly unique player. Only Keane can compare with him, Lampard, Gerrard, Scholes and Makelele were all great players but not at Vieiras level. So true. All Vieira needed was to be fit.
From the athleticOver lunch, Partey spoke at length about his style of play, his preferred positions. He said his preference is to operate as one of a pair of deep-lying midfielders, but he can also play at the base alone. He talked admiringly of Granit Xhaka, and admitted he could envisage playing in tandem with the Switzerland international.
People really expect granit going to he dropped because of Partey. Xhaka been a key for mikel tactics
Im not huge fan of xhaka but he been very important in mikel tactics it'll be so unfair drop him unless there'll be drop of form Partey Xhaka Ceballos should our basic midfield changing it depend on opponent we have options nowXhaka haters seemed to get their hopes truly up when Arteta benched him, them hoping it wasn't for rotation.
But it's pretty clear he will rotate Partey & Xhaka & Ceballos, Willock being a backup/cup player. Personally I would think the loan player won't get as many chances, but of course performances affect that very much.
I would have thought we go to 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 when Kola leaves, but now not sure. In that case Xhaka would have dropped to be 3rd CB when defending. The Sky Sports article I put said even Partey has played CB when younger.
In that tactic Willian/Saka/ESR/Nelson could be the AMF.
