I like Tommy V and wish him all the best. I still think there' s a good defender in there waiting to happen - he just seemed to lose all that aggression that he played with in his first season with us, like he lost his fire. I think another style of manager may get the best out of him. I'm not sure Wenger's style suited Vermaelen's strengths if that makes sense. Wenger likes players to play with freedom and express themselves, I think Vermaelen needs someone to focus him and become part of a more rigid, organised structure.

Still he never publicly came out and moaned or spoke against the club and I'm delighted he hasn't gone to United. Wish him all the best. Against Sp**s last season at the Emirates when he turned their banner round so you couldn't see their crest for the photo was stuff of legend.

@nikpostinger: El Pais claim that Manchester United offered 19million for Vermaelen but Wenger point blank refused to do business with Van Gaal. #AFC #MUFC

If true, this makes me very happy.

Yeah, well done to the boss for that. He know's it's the principle of selling to those ****ers that isn't worth it

With this being announced maybe even tonight, you'd hope we'd see some movement next week on brining a replacement in, wonder if Arsène will ask City about Nastasic after the CS.

We're hemorrhaging gash at an unacceptable rate. Why can't they be crackheads like Tony Adams' ex wife ffs!

Ludivine and her.... the team's taking a real hit here.

Sanchez's wife makes up for losing Polly, but sadly nothing will make up for losing Ludivine :(

good luck verm!

I am a big fan, the guy was a great player and an excellent professional. But for that amount of money and for his career...the deal had to happen.

thanks for your work captain!

Good luck Verms! Always have fonder memories of him than RVP even though he was injured so much.

Thankful he didn't push for the Utd move and I hope he has better luck in the rest of his career.
