I met a football agent on the train once and he told me he was on the way to one of either West Brom or Watford (can't remember which) because his player would be moving to that club. I went straight to the bookies and put £100 down. I subsequently saw on twitter some journalist had already written some article linking the player to the club in the days prior so I felt confident there was some substance to it. I told all my mates and some them put the same bet on just for the player to move to China two weeks later

I wouldn't be surprised if agent talk is a low tier sources lifeblood and it is actually the agents who is just shopping his player around and being misleading. We just choose to blame the journalist, accusing them of making up rubbish to get clicks.
