Let’s not forget why he was banned though. A CL winning manager recently brought back his underperforming star striker after doing something worse than Auba.

Also the key point is that we’re still paying him to not play for us. That’s beyond poor.
Don't forget said manager only brought him back after him going on TV and publicly apologising like a kid who got caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

Had Lukaku not done that he wouldn't have been near the team.

Where was Aubas apology to the fans who pay his wages? Where was his message on Instagram saying I need to be a better captain or player? Was nowhere.

And let's not pretend Arteta one day invented a story all to get Auba out. He only joined us because he had the same problems with the Dortmund manager.

It seems maybe if things aren't going Aubas way he looks for a way out. I hope he does well in la liga. He was a good goalscorer for us and pretty much single handedly won us the FA Cup. That said. We have had better players leave than him and will have in the future.

Yeah we've really sent the message loud and clear - 8th placed Arsenal won't stand for any Prima Donna's, and if you cross Arteta the club will pay most of your wage to get you a move to sunny spain, to play in the Nou Camp alongside guys like Frenkie De Jong, Gavi, Pedri, Torres, etc. Oh and now he has a crack at European football again.
Well done Arteta, and Edu, that'll teach these players to fall into line and do as Arteta says. :clown:

You act like Barca are not a basket case of a club themselves. Actually forking out for an out form Auba and Traore confirms it.

Auba & Dembele in the same dressing room for 6 months will be interesting again.

Doesn't matter what that CL winning manager did. Edu & Arteta have already spoken about changing the culture of the club from top to bottom. We have a young squad so need them to show that comittment and determination on and off the pitch, with no distractions, to get us back to where we need to be.

A culture of paying his wages while he goes to one of the two biggest clubs in football?

Players will also have the right to be sceptical if by freezing out guys we still don’t improve. It might indicate “resetting the culture” this way doesn’t actually make you better.

Changing the culture of the club is just excuse to buy more time. Chelsea was really underperforming under Lampard cause like Arteta he is a poor manager. Tuchel came in and straight away success. He didn’t say I need few years to change the culture of the club. From day one Arteta has been on a campaign to exaggerate the clubs problems and the players ability to buy as much time as he can. But yeah Edu and Arteta who has history of turning clubs around is gonna sort this out

They're getting him for next to nothing for 6 months because Edu bent over and agreed to pay most of his wage, then the final year Auba has taken a " significant " wage reduction to play for them.
Not sure this is as much of a risk to Barca as people think.

there is no risk. Barca had Luke De Jong leading the line for them and they are 5th and struggling. They are crying out for a goalscorer and got one for nothing. We are in the same position in the league and don’t need a goalscorer like Auba and we put our faith on Laca and nketiah

Poor window mainly because the squad is thinner numerically and we are still operating within the era of Covid and May lose a number of players at any given time. We’ve decided to let some go and that’s ok. Not recruiting however is poor planning especially in light of the fact that not long ago we claimed to not have enough to field a team against Sp**s.

These are the things that will come back to haunt us. Thin squad isn’t ideal but it is what it is. The second half of the season should surely be interesting. The club has placed significant faith in the management and particularly Arteta and Edu. Should they fail to achieve European Qualification it will be interesting to see what the excuses and talking points from the club, media and fans will be in support of the current regime.

We should have done more but January has always been a difficult month to do deals.

Where did you get we pay most of his wage until summer? Evidence?

I read we pay some of his wages until summer, and after that none.

Chelsea have the money to keep recycling managers as and when they feel they need to. In doing that, what is their long term vision? what style of football do they wish to play? If that's the way they choose to run their club, that's good for them. Arsenal have chosen a different route by backing a young manager with a structure behind him that is more focused on the long term than shorter term.

Forgot about covid. They also changed the rules you have to have atleast 4 cases to postpone matches and injuries won’t be taken into account anymore. . So 2-3 injuries and 2-3 cases of covid and we are truly fvcked.

What’s Artetas style that he has implanted last 26 months? Or are you saying it takes more than 26 months to implement a style? The only ways we attack is to get the ball wide and put in crosses and have a lone striker who drops deep and not in the box for the crosses.

We were lucky Barcelona is in such a bad situation, but still a huge club.

If we kept Auba until summer, it's very likely there wouldn't be such a club anymore who wants him, and that Auba would accept with taking a paycut.

Am I the only one not bothered by this window?

It's January where, unless you are really lucky, every real signing is always massively overpriced.

Our remaining schedule is really, really light and unless we get really unlucky with injuries we are ok numbers wise.

We do need massive improvements in CM and at ST but in the end those signings were always far more likely in the summer(when there is pre-season to bed them in as well)

Trimmed wage bill gives us much more room to maneuver in the summer.

None of these Arteta Stans can answer this simple question because there is no answer. Instead they refer to his age and the age of the squad as if that's a justification for all that's taken place.

I get the stans. But there are even some normally reasonable posters here who has fall for the give it time and it will be all good nonsense. And they bought themselves 12 months as this season is write off now and next season is the first time Arteta has his players, so he will need time. It’s just people lying to themselves

How can the season be a write-off if it hasn't ended yet?

This is covid season, where there is much uncertainty if players are quarantined and can't play even if they're not that sick. Just because they test positive.

It's a huge risk to let go of Chambers for example, when we got rid of so many players. The savings aren't that huge, and Chambers could cover CB, RB and DMF.

It's just stupid what they did, when they didn't sign anyone.
