They threw Plan A together last night. No way there’s a Plan B.

But Partey is regularly injured no? And Elneny very average.

Doesn’t take hindsight to see CDM as a potential weak spot.

Partey is injury prone yes. Elneny is solid. But nothing spectacular. Along with Xhaka, Lokonga and Zinchenko while we lacked quality we had numbers.

So maybe we were waiting for the right player. Or until January while we prioritised a wide player.

Now 3 of those 5 above are injured. We have had to react. It isn't rocket science like is it?

The problem is the long term consequences of being known as the “club who will pay up eventually”. Having said that we’ve got a long way to go before we catch Todd boehly and the glazers in the race…

Ok I get it’s TDD and we all get excited but we’re about a million miles away from turning any kind of profit

And tbf to the folks complaining a centre mid was a requirement all summer, Xhaka and Partey have been excellent and Zinny was brought in exactly as he could cover both. Not sure a scenario where MO, El Neny, Partey and Zinny all being injured simultaneously is a scenario that can be catered for when we’re at the very edge of the FPP limit and we need cover on the wings.

Not a massive surprise that we’ve had to change approach at the last minute but also not a surprise it’s a massive challenge exactly as it is last minute.
