It's exactly as I suspected. Barca's garbage defense was always going to let them down against any side that has the most rudimentary understanding of the one discipline they seem to have a casual disregard for.

The only thing that makes the potential match-up with Atletico is knowing how conflicted our resident Hidalgo, @Rex Caudillo, is at this stage?

No he hasn’t but he was still world class imo.

I was saying to @A_G that I think Saka’s the football equivalent of being an All NBA 2nd/3rd team guy but he’ll probably never be the best or second best in his position in the world.

That’s the ceiling when your superpower is your decision making, there will eventually be more naturally talented guys who also have elite decision making.
I think a good comparison to Saka is Andy Murray. Absolutely a world class player, but not on the same level as the more naturally Djokovic/Nadal/Federer.

People used to get on to me for not rushing to call Saka world class but there wasn’t anybody comparable bar Salah at the time.

Along with Olise I’m hoping other young talents start to emerge and remind us of what world class wing play actually looks like.

Two things:

1 - Saka is undoubtedly world class, you yourself agreed with this before his major injury. A bit unfair to call this when he's having a down year in terms of production.

2 - If we generally agree that attackers struggle in Arteta's system what do we make of Saka being elite in it? I'm with @Geofranco that he would look insane in a team that platforms attacking talent.

Funny thing is we’ve easily beaten each of the other three likely semi finalists once in the past year. Would also have home advantage in the semi second leg and the final is, of course, the ultimate one off game. Believe, lads.
early season Arsenal is a completely different team from late season Arsenal tbh

Agreed. If I was to nitpick I’d say that 24/25 being cut short by injury stopped him from rubber stamping the world class label. I think he has to earn it back now.

Yeah Saka would look better in a Bayern or Barca but you only have to watch Olise play to see that Saka is a bit off in terms of ball striking talent, especially when it comes to shooting. I think Saka’s a great crosser.

He’s also not able to generate cut in and shoot opportunities like Olise can, something about Olise’s dribbling style seems to give him more joy with that and his edge of the box curler is far more consistent than Bukayo’s. Regardless pre hamstring Saka would make a mockery of the bundesliga.

@Trilly honestly it’s too late for Saka and Martinelli. Who knows what they would become under different regime? We will never know. I would go as far as saying Martinelli with his pace and nose for goals had even bigger ceiling if he had elite coaching. The only worry is Max

People say why I did lie on the floor after the goal, they think I was tired. But I think I was a lot cleverer than people thought.
