So here it is…

5th May 2009

The biggest movies of the year were Inglorious Basterds, Avatar and the Hurt Locker. Dizzee Rascal and Kanye West (ahem) dominated the charts and David Cameron was still sat in opposition.

Lionel Messi was about to win his first Ballon d’Or AND Arsenal last played in the semi finals of a Champions League. We’ve waited almost 16 years… so many false dawns and even a half decade in the footballing wilderness of the Europa League but now…

WE’RE BACK!

You have to go even further back for our last winning semi final effort with this heart stopper against Villarreal in 2006.

That’s right almost 20 years since that famous night in the then Madrigal. Hopefully the spirit of Jens won’t be needed by Raya over the two legs…

Predicted Team

1745601483168.jpeg

After the last round the line-up pretty much sets itself. The big hope is that both Merino and White come through their injury scares.

Whilst obviously it’s Merino who’s most important the bench is looking very light with this game probably arriving too soon for Calafiori and Jorginho even though they should be back for the return leg.

The threat of the team depending on whether it’s Trossard or Merino up front is night and day. In a few short weeks Merino has proven to be our signing of the season raking with both goals and assists.

The Opposition

After defeating the biggest name in club football in the quarter finals we now face probably the most in form.

From the new year they’ve won 23, drawn 2 and lost 2 with those two losses coming in legs against Villa and Liverpool when they still managed to progress regardless.

Now whilst as per usual they have steamrollered Ligue 1 their form in the CL has been iffy. A lot of people point to their form post January when they’ve comprehensively slapped up City (although so did we and even Real Madrid managed it) and Stuggart but to my eyes they have looked very uncertain at times against Villa and Liverpool.

Villa in particular had them fully on the ropes looking dazed and PSG needed a dodgy injury time allocation to really get them over the line.

PSG are one of the four other clubs that our manager has played for, and we have an unbeaten record against them having won twice and drawn three of our previous competitive matches, a record we extended earlier this season in the Group Stage when we comprehensively put them away.

Notice both goals coming from crosses… set pieces have proven to be a constant weakness for them this year so hopefully Joever has been cooking something up in the lab.

There are a few former players who’ve played for both clubs ranging from the ridiculous (David Luiz and Kaba Diawara) to the sublime with our once upon a time teenage phenom Nicolas Anelka sandwiching his time at Arsenal and Real between two stints with the Parisians.

Danger Man

extended. Again this isn’t necessarily the star studded PSG team that’s so embarrassingly flattered to deceive in Europe over the years.

Gone are the “Galacticos” of Neymar, Mbappe, Messi, Ramos and Cavani now replaced with a glittering array of youngsters such as Zaire-Emery, Barcola and in particular Desire Doue who looks scarily good.

We could also say Kvaratskhelia who’s arrival in January has coincided with a higher level for PSG but in terms of danger men it has to be the man with more goals than starts this year…

Ousmane Dembele who has been in frightening form in both Ligue 1 and Champions League.

how much our fans spent money for that tifo
None. Arsenal paid for it.
The fans raised over 10k for a tifo ( it was sh1t tbf) but Arsenal didn't let them use it because they were doing their own. This 😩

We are close.

Rip it all up now for what?

Second in the league and in the semi finals of the CL.

Let’s follow the man United path so…

we are so close ?? forget about close becasue he should deliver premier league last season 23/24 if arteta can beat west ham at emirates, last season is deadline day for arteta ,

also you think just because "close" that is mean we will get major trophy next season , remember last season we are close win premier league then next season something bad unexpected happen to our club come out nowhere like injury, surgery, player underperformed week in week out like Ødegaard, sporting director leave etc (including arne slot who coming from farmer league but immediately deliver premier league in his first season with the fact liverpool below arsenal last 2 season)

Rip it all up now for what?

Let’s follow the man United path so…
you think our club will automatically collapse immediately just because arteta leave this club ???? especially we have elite experienced sporting director like berta with the fact we have squad who compete title race in last 2 season

also manutd completely different situation with arsenal because amorim come to manutd inherited poor squad who finished 8th last season, so if new manager come to arsenal they already have squad who finished 2nd + money for transfer window

not to mentioned arsenal can afford hire any world class or elite manager because kroenke gave salary 15m per year to arteta as third highest paid manager in world football above ancelotti as world class manager who already won a lot ucl trophy

Second in the league and in the semi finals of the CL.

My Godness, this is arteta fifth season but you still defending with argument like that ??? that is weak argument not even close strong argument,

the only thing can defending arteta is major trophy because this is his fifth season with him get salary 15m per years

Arteta-outers are delusional. Arteta is getting us there...brick by brick

what you said above, that ix similar narrative like arsenal fans (in wenger era) when they tried to defending wenger who trophyless won nothing for 5 season from 05/06 to 09/10 at that time

arsenal fans (in wenger era) said "wenger created legacy at arsenal, he is the reason we won 3x premier league trophy with invincibles unbeaten, so we need be patience, he will deliver premier league very soon"

the difference is wenger situation at arsenal already has credit in the bank won 3x epl with invincibles unbeaten while arteta situation at arsenal until now still not deliver major trophy even worst won nothing last 4 season (not even can deliver one single trophy like EUROPE LEAGUE OR FA CUP OR CARABAO)

Happy to give him the benefit of the doubt due to the ungodly amount of injuries unlike @MD3 Gunner and many others. Think we have to be fair.

One win away from the league last year, let's see if a solid window can bring us a title next season, if not then time for someone new.

So you want to start from the beginning and toss out the person that has made demonstrable strides forward? Ridiculous.

did you realize we have title race squad ?? which mean new manager will not start from zero again like rebuild this squad , your sound like we have arsenal squad like 20/21 LOL

the problem is this manager not good enough for bring this squad win major trophy until now, he not even can deliver one single trophy like europe league or fa cup or carabao in last 4 season

The most worrying thing for me today was that PSG “managed” the game after going 1-0 up.

I didn’t think they had it in them. Young team, full of super talent, I thought they’d just continue trying to ball out but nah man these ****ers are smart and disciplined.

It’s gonna be tough in Paris. We will need to press them like craaaaazy because they’ll be more than happy passing it around at the back. Rice will be 🔑
we are not look like hungry want score goal in second half (except from that trossard chance) even until last minute

You’re full of ****e if you think we had a fully fit squad last season.

we still compete title race until matchweek 38 in last season with have crazy run win streaks in second half season, so stop excuse,

I still can't believe Trossard didn't finish that man, so annoying. Honestly 1-0, 1-1 doesn't make much of a difference to me. Either way we would have to show up and win in Paris.

Dude wake the **** up. Dortmund sacked their manager even though he led them to a CL final last season.. what has Arteta done this year to justify another season ?

this club have concept keep manager for many many many years (wenger era after invincibles & arteta era) even without deliver major trophy & the result from that concept is still failed major trophy until now,

i believe if he smash that ball with more power the probabilty 1-1 will be higher

at that time arteta already promised to us that he will give champions league trophy in three years, so this project should already over since 3 years ago

Arsenal Quotes

When you grow up with a club and you end up playing for them and winning things, you are from that club. I was born here. I was formulated here.
