Question:

What does Emery now need to do to keep his job, by the end of the season?
The management are still spending 5th in the league. So 5th is bang on expectations. If he can get the squad to perform better than the sum of their parts, he’ll break into the top 4. We have a chance now United are still underperforming and Chelsea inconsistent.

They’re both a problem though and it wasn’t fixed in this window.
I starting to think that for example Liverpool's defenders would also struggle here. Our defenders are put under massive pressure right now. They don't get any protection from midfield. There are too many 1 vs 1 situations, too much space for attackers to run into our defence. The more attacks/shots/space, the bigger chance for a mistake. We have too many rash players in our defence, they should be more protected, but our midfield are invisible wall right know. Diamond isn't working. Emery should scrape it.

Willock was promoted though and to be fair, has performed when called upon, and Ceballos is a quality addition who was the Euro U21 player of the tournament. Add to that Tierney, a quality full back to replace the ageing Monreal and provide competition with Kolsinac and also the highly rated Saliba. To say a we didn't fix the issues this window is a little harsh IMO.

Venkatesham: Emery is doing an excellent job

“Absolutely, we are very comfortable with him and his coaching staff. We think he is doing an excellent job, so we are very happy,” Venkatesham told The Straits Times.

“When we appointed Unai, the team that worked on that looked at lots of different attributes that we felt we want to have in our head coach.

“One of them was, we want a coach who was willing, able, and had a track record of playing young players, because that is an important part of Arsenal Football Club.”

Honestly just picked the first site which showed the result info so I don't claim this to be fact but

The expectation must be TOP 4 or bust at this point. In addition, from a personal point of view, even if we finish fourth but not performing better, a change of manager will be appropriate.

What’s your take on our spine, the state of midfield (defensive) and CBs this year and why the club let it go after seeing the vulnerability last year?

The new CIES figures came out this week. This is the site that people use in the media and football forums. It’s been posted on here a couple of times . . the cost of the full 25 man squad. City are the first club to break the 1 billion euro limit.

On the Givemesport site you went on, it’s here. Same figures

Not sure exactly what you call spine since the line up has been changing everyday. Beyond that though but still related, the total absence of football identity is most concerning. That must be confusing as well for the players.

I wasn’t thinking of tactics, I was thinking of quality. Xhaka/Guendouzi in front of Luiz and Sokratis, they’ve been there in some form, whatever system he’s chosen.

Fans were screaming fior a manager who changes the formation and tries to effect the game, something Wenger was heavily criticised for, and now he, 'can't choose a formation'.... like I said, some fans a full of $**t.

Great post bro
