Whoever invented the Nations League needs locking up, tbh...or at the very least a minor punishment like a public beating.

Basically no English players have been in contention for the Ballon d'or for god knows how long. France, England and Brazil make players like that for fun and usually have multiple contenders in their team at once. While you have mediocre players, the manager is largely irrelevant. Like someone said, international managers have next to no time with the players. We have an amazing crop of young players coming and I think an English manager would get the most out of them unless it is a top top top foreign coach who is also a good tactician. I wouldn't be surprised if they go for Tuchel for those reasons. Sven and Capello were not top managers.

Bit harsh that....

England appointed him in 2007. Should England hire Jose because of his record a decade+ ago? Jose is a GOAT manager but he is no longer a top manager, wouldn't you agree?

2007 was directly off the back of winning 3 league titles in a row, albeit two of them being redacted later on but he won the league with Real Madrid in 06/07 too. I don't particularly rate him but he was definitely considered a top manager when he was appointed, no doubt about that.

The Mourinho comparison doesn't work as Mourinho hasn't really done anything of note at the top level for many years now. Ancelotti would actually be a better comparison as he's also an old guy still managing at the top level with recent + historic success.

My Mourinho comparison was to suggest that great managers at some point become dinosaurs despite being still being compentent football managers. Capello's managerial career started in the late 80s which is why by 2010 it would be some feat if he remained totally relevant. I feel quite confident Jose could win the league with todays Real Madrid but we've seen he can no longer manage a complex job like a England where you are not default favourites.

Saliba having a poor game vs Belgium. Gave pen away and responsible for their goal

Just saw the highlights. Openda looks like our Gabriel Jesus replacement.

Should be making that move in January. 35 G/A in 45 apps last season and 7 G/A in 9 is pretty impressive.

Openda is better than his team mate we want sesko. But he’s not 6”4

He'll cost a bomb, was Leipzig's record transfer just a year ago. Agree with you and Rasmi we should look at him ahead of Sesko.

Stylistically he suits Havertz much more. Gives us something different with pace behind and much easier to play next to Havertz when needed. Havertz and Sesko together won’t compliment each other well
