Ødegaard roaming on the pitch when play for norway because he is not play deeper & not only stay in one zone in rhs area

while at arsenal he playing deeper a lot & only stay in one zone in rhs area
There are other players around Gyokeres too. We all saw how easy Jesus got involved when he came on after being out for a year.

Feels like Gyokeres is damned whether he does or doesn't score today against the relegation fodder.
yes he is. As these games have no tangible impact on whether the title is won. We will look back at Gabriel last minute v Newcastle as a moment which won the title, 2 points gained.

If he can only score against this level of team, then it is telling you something

Eh? Since when were points awarded based on opposition?

Every game counts, and I'd probably argue swatting aside the lower sides is what a title challenge is built upon. In 22/23 we lost the league by 5. Guess who dropped 7 to the bottom 4?

I’m only bothered about this season. Who have we dropped points to?

Fair enough you're not a fan of Gyokeres, and I'll be honest I didn't want him initially and have found him a fairly underwhelming signing so far.

But if we win the league or CL and Gyokeres scores 11 goals, who cares? But I get the feeling you'll still be in here slating him every day 😁

And If he starts scoring and playing well you're just going to get tagged and @'d constantly.

I also really still think we are adapting to him and this will take a while. its impossible that he forgot how to score goals.

I’ve said he can score against very poor teams, never been my argument. he will probably score tonight.

The foolhardy among us will say this is the start of a great run but it is just a player finding a level he’s capable against.

Generally our attack hasn’t fully got going bar a few moments, the same could be said about the past few seasons.

Unless something drastically changes, it won’t be the attack that wins us the title or CL, it’ll be our stern defence and midfield. Let’s be real most of the shouts this season by mainstream media about POTY if we win the title haven’t been for Saka, Martinelli, Gyokeres, Noni or whoever in our frontline, it’s been for Rice, Gabriel or Timber. The only player that has really been mentioned is Trossard.

He's a channel striker who likes to peel off the shoulder of the last defender and run at goal. He is essentially a Henry/Auba type striker but less talented, drifting from the left into central positions. We've been trying to use him like a box striker, which doesn't suit him. His movement in and around the box is basic. It's so poor that he is often flat-footed to crosses or cutbacks. He struggles to separate from defenders, so he resorts to a Holjund impression. I'd like to see him rotate with Martinelli or Trossard more to get him into shooting positions. If we didn't have so many forwards, I wonder if Arteta would play him out on the left as he did with Auba. It would cause quite a stir on this forum.

He's 100% playing him on the left with Kai central, not even thar far fetched of an idea, though I dislike it on paper.

Don’t think he has the physical abilities to play on the left. Auba was a totally different physical animal.

Auba was better on the left because he preferred to move out there and try and get the CB to follow him and isolate him.

Key to that was his pace while Gyok runs like he’s got a parachute on.

My issue with the channel running stuff ( and i do think that's an accurate representation of what Gyokeres was at Sporting) is the question of whether he can do it at a higher level, which the PL is.

In a major league you need not necessarily a super high top speed but pretty rapid acceleration of the mark and an above par first touch. I think it's two of the areas that he's a bit lacking in overall. Auba or Henry for example, over 5-10 yards you're not catching them, they're gone.

I brought it up with the highlight reel of his goals in Sporting in the summer, there was a lot of static and frankly pretty poor defensive work and there were many occasions where Gyok would have a poor touch or get the ball caught under his feet but he'd have that extra split second in the Portuguese league to recalibrate and sort himself out that you just don't get in the PL, bar against maybe a handful of the poorest sides.

League is very weak
Gyok is a physical mess, let’s be honest. He has scoring instinct so I like him.

Guy is running in treacle. It’s one thing looking fast and strong in Portugal, it’s another thing when you come to England and the base physical level is monster.

I bash the modern game, but on a physical level, it’s never been better.

Nailed it. He’s limited for sure and I’m sure the club + those who watched him at Sporting were well aware of that. Saying that I wouldn’t say it’s a real massive issue but the fix has always been tweaking things to play to his strengths as we’ve seen limited players over the years get success at the top level. Really depends on Arteta more than anyone else and whether he’s feeling him that much which has always been the case. Gyokeres best chance is probably Eze playing off him than Ødegaard as he just takes too many touches - this is just one example but we’ve all seen a lot more of the below over the past two seasons or so:

Arsenal Quotes

I want a fan to wake up in the morning and say, “Arsenal are playing today, I’m going to have a good time.” That guy starts his day off by thinking that something good is going to happen to him. And to do that, big clubs like Arsenal have to have the ambition to play spectacularly. Of shared happiness.
