He will get dropped as soon as Kai can play 90. Inter might be the last game he starts, especially if he doesn’t score.

You sell him in the summer and go again.
Yeah I know Inter have dropped off but he's not scoring against Bastoni and co.

He ran half the pitch with two defenders pulling on his back and got his shot off. The defender did a brilliant last ditch tackle. I'm sure if we looked at the xG from that situation it would be pretty low. We need to see him in more situations like that.

This is less a Gyokeres problem than a team problem.

Watching Man U, cut through City on rapid counters slick forward passes and creating a bucket load of chances was a sight to behold and quite scary. If they had Gyokeres, he'd probably be in double figures right now.

We are just crap at transitions and counters. The one player we have that is superb at it, is actually Eze, but he's been nerfed by arteta.

Fenerbache bound. They like our players, linked to Tossard and Zincheko. Plus they don't mind paying big salaries to high profile players. Gyok would do well in the Turkish league.

The best solution is Merino up top until Kai is fit. As a makeshift, he is a far better PL striker than Gyokeres. Even when he is not scoring he is involved and smart, dragging defenders to places they don’t want to be.

I pray Gyok starts against Inter and benched for Man Utd. Merino scores against Utd as a 9, I am sure of it.

Really doesn’t look like there is much to work with. Hard to see where the improvement is going to come from either at this point the lack of pace and technique isn’t something you can fix.

I remember @Dokaka recommending Cornelius for FPL fans over a decade ago and feeling more impressed by his technical ability than this.

I think you have two separate issues. We definitely have a problem creating from open play but at the same time Gyokeres has found it almost impossible to get anything out of about every PL defender he’s come up against other than, Leeds and Burnley who - to your point - left acres of space for us to break on the counter.

My issue with him now is not only is he struggling offensively, he routinely struggles to compete for the ball in 50/50s and retain his balance and control which leads to us losing possession in dangerous areas when we’re in an attacking shape.

Play martinelli cf or something if Havertz can't play, this guy is beyond diabolical.

Yes he is still a better goalscorer than gyokeres and has speed to actually run in behind. Unlike gyokeres who runs like he has concrete in his boots
Haha yeah right. We saw how good he is .. used the wrong and couldnt even get it on target. From 2 yards out. A free ball

He should have scored but it wasn’t an easy chance at all. It was a tight angle which the keeper had covered at the near post he could only aim for the far post which he scuffed. Still a miss but not as easy as it might seem.

Edit : Watched a couple of replays and yeah bad miss. No excuses.

He didnt have the technique or mental ability to play it correctly. Can only use one foot, even for a tap in. At least get it on target.

I have a bad feeling that Arteta will persist with him for too long.

He has to be benched, when Havertz can play 60 minutes and even now Merino is a better option.

Can't make his mind up
I wanted to let this marinate a little for me. Some time has passed. I'm post bar right now. Absolutely juiced (cool guy, I know). perfect time to post.

I want to like him. Seems like a good guy. His story (blossomed late, etc.) is one thats easy to get behind.
But the production obviously isn't there, and if you dive deeper and just look at the skills he has (and more importantly the skills he doesn't have), I just don't understand how he's every going to be a productive striker for us. At bare minimum you want to see him in the right positions, but he sadly isn't even doing that well.

You never wish injury - but you sort of find yourself starting to hope there's an underlying injury problem or something. So far, he's pretty far below even my pessimistic-scenario expectation of how he'd perform here.

Hope he comes good.

One of his biggest haters, but that chance isn't easy. Thought Murillo did well.

Was on Vinai's payroll; misses 4th place trophy 🏆
Think its just not working at against lower blocks he might do better in space like Chelsea game or some cl but that deep block teams he look lost.

Think kai will take his place as soon he fit

The problem is Rice. It has to be either Zubi or Rice. Cannot play two DMs. Rice has zero attacking impact.
