Dokaka

Gunner come out of the closet any day now…
What I’m getting at is that regardless of difficulty I don’t think he’s anywhere near as sharp as he was at Sporting. That will come from more reps in situations such as yesterday and more confidence/self-belief which I think he’s been lacking for most of his time here.

Define sharp in this context though, because he never looked "sharp" to me even in Portugal. My main worry about him was how his touch just looked so heavy and inconsistent, his dribbling was purely based on him using his strength and the vast majority of his goals came from situations where you could immediately tell that would be an extremely rare situation in the PL in terms of space, quality of the defending etc. He's got a good shot on him if given space, but I genuinely believe that is true for pretty much every attacker at this level.

His biggest asset right now are his instincts as a striker and his size, and he hasn't lost that, still makes the runs you'd expect from a natural CF but instead of receiving the ball and being able to run towards goal and/or push it into space, he's receiving it and getting absolutely swarmed by much better defenders. It's why I was so worried about his ability in the air, his size and movement was the main way I saw him getting goals but the guy is unbelievably poor in the air for someone of his size and position.

He's decently effective against lesser teams in Europe, promoted sides and in cup ties against lower league teams, so I'm not suggesting he's not a valuable part of the squad by any means, I just don't see this whole "he's not himself" angle.

So I’m thinking of chances like yesterday where a more confident/in-form Gyokeres takes the shot on earlier, tries to round the keeper, or checks back across the defender.

Sharpness in thought basically. I think it takes more than 2/3 instances of being through on goal and getting caught up before it’s drilled into you that you can’t take this much time anymore which is why I said I think he needs more reps.

Once he’s had the reps the big if (and what will determine if he makes it here) is if he starts making the right decisions and executing correctly. For me it’s the decision making that’s the big if.

how is it the most important position?

Liverpool have won two titles with Salah top scoring.

City won titles with Gundogan, De Bruyne, Yaya Toure top scoring.

Chelsea won a title with Hazard, and two with Lampard top scoring.

United won titles with CR7 top scoring from the wing.

not to mention Leicester's title with the world's best striker Jamie Vardy leading the line.

it's great to have a top class striker but it's by no means required to win a title.
Id argue its one of the least important positions tbh

If he's able to go on a bit of a scoring run here, he'll get the official "mentality monster" tag from me. He gets A LOT of stick. You could argue he gets it more than any other player in the league. To be able to overcome that and have success despite it certainly requires something about you

Saw something on the socials that he got a new girlfriend which in turn ignited this goal-scoring.

If so, hats off to the young woman.
That woman's picture they're using is a fitness/lifter "influencer" on social media who lives in the US and has been married for nearly a decade. I was so confused when I saw those stories and they were using her pictures as I've been following her for a while. Her workouts are legit. She's a beast.

The reps will come, the confidence/mentality improvements are what will make or break him here.

Agreed, I get the sense he’s got a strong mentality as he’s just been working on his own thing without really listening to all the outside noise tbf:

Feel like he knows he needs to take it up a few notches in this last stretch. Not feeling all this pettiness by some, hopefully him, Havertz and Jesus carry us through and win us the quad.

Yeah fair enough but he didn't look like it before that season. He was like 3 years removed from playing for Fleetwood Town!
His story is a special one tbh. You occasionally hear of guys who for some weird inexplicable reason just get better as the level increases.

Saka was like that coming through the youth ranks as well.

Owen Goal knocked back down to 4 goals.
Yea but on the other hand Seth Piece got his first goal of the season as well as being on track to break the assist record.

People talking about how great this league is when this guys more than a hundred years old and will be the main reason we're winning the title this season.

You can see that he is gaining some confidence if you just look at his celebration.

Some weeks ago his celebration was hesitantly and without conviction. I remember that once he was even pushed by teammates to do it.

Against Leeds (mayber even before) it changed. Saw some more confidence in it.
It sounds silly but I think celebrations can be a massive signal. I agree, his previous celebrations he was giving the vibe he felt he wasn’t good enough at the time. It’s changing now.

I remember Kai being pushed to celebrate when he first joined because his confidence was rock bottom. I hope Gyokeres can give us the improvement we saw from Havertz post-Dubai that season.

If he does, we win this league and we probably win 1 or 2 more trophies.

Of course she’s hot as she has one of the best natty physiques out there. She’s not a clickbait freaker with an OF which is also important.
what’s the @? Not asking for me, asking for @Rasmi 😇

Arsenal Quotes

"Arsenal come streaming forward now in surely what will be their last attack.

A good ball by Dixon, finding Smith for Thomas, charging through the midfield... It's up for grabs now! Thomas! Right at the end!

What an unbelievable climax to the League season"
