I think this is just recency bias and outcome bias.

His movement off the ball has always been great, but we don't bother picking him out.

Then he get scapegoated for "slow movement" and "indecisive" in the box when the fact is the service was inconsistent and rarely seen. He was feeding off scraps most of the time.
His movement running off the shoulders is very very good. Not sure he's gotten caught offsides once yet. His box instincts look a lot worse because he's absolutely hopeless with his head so he's never going to even challenge for aerial balls and for some reason we go thru phases of spamming crosses. Play it on the floor around him and he'll either attempt a shot or make a smart/dangerous pass which is all you can hope for when your striker is able to generate that much power into his strikes.

This tackle is not talked about…why… could have seriously injured Gyokeres
Gyokeres legitimately gets some of the worst reffing in the league. Dont get me wrong, he goes down a little soft at times, but there's a ton of times in a ton of games where CBs pretty much have a legit license to maul him with 0 consequences. They gotta do something about it. I suppose it has gotten a bit better. It used to be soo bad early on in the season.

he's useless with his head? please explain how he scored that world class header against Athletic Club during pre season

that would be me, I thought Woltemade really got it going but that was a false dawn afterall
Woltemade stopped scoring and Newcastle's form turned to **** what a fall from grace
Tbf it is still very early and he could turn out to be a great signing for them but it shows the difference in pressure when you play for us compared to less high profile clubs like Newcastle. There is hardly any criticism for him. I know he is a lot younger than Gyokeres but the amount of money he cost you should expect a lot more. This is why it is much harder to succeed at Arsenal because the noise from the press and fans becomes a big burden to carry.

got a few minutes, I went and checked transfermarkt
here is the list of player that assisted Gyokeres

- Eze - 2 assists
- Gabriel - 2 assists
- Havertz - 2 assists
- Martinelli - 2 assists
- Calafiori - 1 assist
- Saka - 1 assist
- White - 1 assist
11 goals + 2 penalties

Havertz is definitely the stand out performer here, while Gabriel is a surprising factor

btw, while researching this, the stats show how spread out our goals are.... Zubi has 6 goals all comp
I hope several more players would reach over 10 goals

Great thanks. I will add that Saka’s assist was a ricochet off his heel 🤣 Good spread though tbh. Yes Havertz in such a short period of time is great. Not surprisingly, nothing from Ødegaard.

Re players reaching double figures, that was always very Arsenal, and we need to get back to it.

Gotta admit I did not have "star from Arsenal's academy being called selfish" on my bingo card of excuses for Gyokeres.
I wouldn’t call it an excuse but he and Saka do have pretty poor chemistry

I think part of it is that he does tend to go down fairly easy / look for fouls and the refs have clocked it so he's not getting some legitimate fouls against him that he should get.

You mean Saka's unwillingness to pass the ball ?
This just isn't a thing

I am just gonna put this into perspective :
Saka has 7 assists (all comp) 2 from corners & 5 from open play
2 assists for our star player John OG
the other 5 are for Merino, Gyok, Ode, Rice & Timber

7 assists (and 7 goals) are not a bad output (Salah has 6/6) but yeah, he is getting predictable lately and some of his shots this season are bad,
if Martinelli did them, would have several posters started "I want him sold yesterday" chain post

But it is. Saka has become a greedy so and so. Often (this season) I see him looking up and totally ignoring better options and then opting for a terrible shot.
I believed it is the label of arsenal star player clouded his judgement in game. He would felt more responsibility to carry the team, lead by example and the most direct way will be to shoot more.

Actually it was quite the same for Ode. When he got the Captain armband, u can see the stress look on his face, and it affected giw he plays on the field.

I hold Saka to the highest standards. He is the benchmark in our team regarding final 3rd decision making.
But this season he's been poor. Not just passes but shots as well. A lot of wrong calls uncharacteristically of him.

I don't think Saka has become greedy, it's more we notice it now because nothing is coming off for him. He has always favoured cutting back inside and trying to curl one in, or going down the outside and trying to score at the near post. When they go in nobody cares, when they're not people are looking to see who was open in the box.

Arsenal Quotes

I believe one of the best things about managing people is that we can influence lives in a positive way. That’s basically what a manager is about. When I can do that, I am very happy.
