This must have been the Sp**s' defence during that 4-1 win...

After closely watching his perfomance at anfield earlier in the season my biggest fear was that we would end up realising that havertz is the better striker. Still, if we do win the league this season I don't think we would've done it without him.

I'm not saying he's perfect by any stretch but this team has the same issue with him as it does with Eze outside of the moments he's able to pull something off which is that it fundamentally does not play football in a way that benefits a true attacking midfielder or a true striker. The system is largely designed to share chances around with no true central focal point and to this point Arteta and the players have been unwilling or unable to change what they're used to doing enough to properly integrate either.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Havertz playing behind Gyok has looked promising because it gives you kind of the best of both worlds where Havertz can still do exactly what he does as a 9, the team can largely play the same and Gyok can just walk into the space Havertz creates with his movement. My hope is that he'll be fit enough for that combo to start most of our matches in the league at the very least because I think that's probably our best bet for taking maximum points.

That puzzles me more, i won't be surprised on his low duels if he was built like Nketiah. He's normally sticked and glued around the opposition but I hope he does more side to side to knock them off or just get infront of them. Bit like the 2nd goal he scored against Sp**s is how he should be using his body often
We often equate size with strength, but winning duels depends more on balance leverage and explosive power.

If a player’s center of gravity is high like Viktor or their core stability and footwork are weak, they’re easier to move. It’s just physics. Smaller players who stay low and drive through their hips often win contact battles. David Silva was a good example of this.

I don’t know what Gyokeres’ training regimen has been but a big upper body with core stability and leg drive is like a Maserati engine on bald tyres. Looking at Havertz own transformation, I’m certain the club will have a plan to address this in the summer.

Should not start anymore. His passing is soo bad that we cannot transition fast enough on counters.

Needs some time on the bench for Kai imo. I think the only chance we have of getting better offensively is getting the ceiling raiser players in Ødegaard + Kai + Saka (this one might be done at this point imo) to start playing at a higher level. Start ticking upwards.

Yes, and Ben White, if he's ever fit.

He's a good goalscorer and a poor all round footballer.

He had a few really poor touches / passes today I'll admit but unless you're getting him the ball with a bit of space in and around the box you're not going to get much out of him anyway.

Until Kai gets properly fit he's going to have to keep going, just the way it is.

I’m not sure he’s show for us that he’s such a good goal scorer. He’s not poaching chances or scoring great shots… I’ve been really disappointed with his ability to actually create a chance with good movement. That’s why people were praising him for the pressure he put CBs under…. That’s his overall play. Pressure the CB and lay it off for another player. He did really well at that for the first 5 minutes today, I was impressed…. Then he was anonymous for the rest of the game unfortunately. I’d love to see him fire up, but I think he’s one of the weak links of the team right now. But tbf, our entire offfense is looking pretty weak.

It’s impossible to play good football with the guy up front.

Yes we have build up issues and whatnot but you basically have no chance at this level if your main attacker is this limited.

Praying that Kai can stay fit and we can use Gyok more sparingly.

City get away playing awful footballer like Haaland because they had top attackers around him in a well drilled system.

We just have to many out of form attackers to carry Gyo atm. We need the system players for the attack. Havertz and sadly Sadegaard. Move Eze to left.

I hope I’m wrong but my gut is telling me we should cut our losses in the summer and re enter the market for a top striker.

Look, he’s not a bad player but any stretch. But for what we want and where we’re going, I can’t see it being a success.
My guy there no CF available that can make some difference they all average we just need to develop someone from academy.

I just want this guy to have have like an average two shots a game but even this difficult to achieve.

He was involved today really good 1st half and Arteta really need to stop taking him off when you bring kai leave him on ffs

I miss the days we’d sign a Vela, Adebayor or Eduardo. Very little known about them but they have bags of quality.

Alavarez hasn’t been in great form at Atleti but why not at least try and tempt him over. Heck, offer them Gyokeres as a sweetener. He low key suits Atleti.
