Also helps that he was flanked by trossard and Saka.

If we're going to play the trio of doom, I feel we need MLS and Cala on the pitch at the very least.

He needs ball to feet guys around him.
The mood is positive now because it worked yesterday, but we’ve had plenty of games where Arsenal were criticized for having no runners. Next signing has to be someone who attacks space and is comfortable on the ball.

If we had Gyokeres against PSG last season we would have had a far better chance. He is a big danger to PSG and Bayern with their cake defence. One through ball and he's like a bull that sees red. He may not be aesthetic but is very effective in open games which is why he's looked good in the CL. Our finalist opposition will not play defensive.

Ngl this ‘football man’ thing of yours is funny. May have to copy you cos there aren’t a lot of football men on here

I couldn’t sleep last night until another football man appeared and I could rest easy, knowing the forum will be in good hands. It got to 2am and thankfully Matheo arrived. Thought I was in for an all nighter.

I think his hold up play is not great... I don't know why people say its good. He puts a lot of effort and struggle into them but loses the ball most times. He isn't physically dominant on aerial balls. He does look better than when he first joined though.

I really didn't want to sign the bloke but I am favourable towards him. He is a better signing than Lacazette for sure. His channel runs are refreshing and give us another dimension. I like his hunger. I feel like if he gets a shot off, theres a good chance.

My bar for a striker is to be on par with Ollie Watkins and Gyok isn't there yet. I'm not sure what he can do to get there at the moment. Perhaps furnish more shooting chances for himself because that utilises his strengths. He should be finishing Hincapie's cross though... I expect him to at least test the keeper there.

I don't get any criticism for last night's performance. It wasn't basic, he was dominant. His work created the goal that Saka scored (Trossard as well obviously). He's obviously upped his work-rate and fitness as he's settled.

They said, he needs to score more, to be more consistent and he's obviously better in games with space. Last night was surprisingly open for large periods which suits him. He was immense though, MOTM for me, although you could easily pick others.

I said it in the match thread but some of his hold up and link up play was Drogba-esque at times yesterday. I didn't think he that in him tbh.

It's a shame he couldn't finish that performance off with a goal from that chance second half because he deserved it for his overall performance.

It’s not an agenda. His work rate is top. Since he’s arrived, I can’t fault his workrate or mentality, it’s admirable. Unfortunately, his footballing ability is basic. Tonight, he done pretty well, but I’m hearing MOTM shouts for backing into defenders and rolling them towards the end of the 2nd half.
His link-up was very good yesterday. Only faltered in the last 10 mins or so which is understandable with the amount of running he did.

Yesterday, his work rate and speed were exceptional, but that is not possible against every opponent. The Champions League semi-final gave him an extra push, but I doubt he can maintain that intensity over an entire season.

There were also moments that showed he is more of a band aid for us. For example, when he dribbled into Saka and on another moment that his shot attempt easily got blocked. Every time he managed to hold up the ball and find a teammate, it felt like a relief. But that should be the standard at the level Arsenal are at.

That being said, in my opinion he was the MotM yesterday. But in that position, we need a world-class forward, and he just isn’t the long term solution.

Seeing his chance again it's actually not that straight forward chance because the ball was high for him to make clear contact while running but that was some cross from Hincapie.

Yh those chances with the ball off the ground arent easy. Could go into the roof of the net or over the top just as easily.

It wasn’t an easy chance like a tap in, but a forward at this level should at least hit it between the post. Everyone thought it was a certain goal when Piero Hincapie delivered that perfect cross.

In the studio they asked the ex defenders who they rather play against, Kai or Gyokeres. They laughed and said of course its Kai.

Gyokores doesn't give defenders any moment to rest. He's relentless and always on it

Proper dog of war performance last night. Felt like watching Michael Antonio in his prime. Not sure who has suddenly taught him how to properly compete for long balls since the last two games but it makes a huge difference.

He has evolved for sure because this was not his gameplay at start of season. At this level of fitness, he's really playing like Drogba and annoying all his markers
