He got injured at a very unfortunate time, right after having by far his best half for us against Burnley. Just killed his chance at building momentum.

We saw from Calafiori that the inability to string together a good number of games can really do a number on how your quality is perceived.

I think he'll be fine. Some here were definitely getting carried away with how they saw him, but he should be good overall.

To be fair, I still don’t see Gyökeres having the kind of chances Haaland gets at City. The only match where I noticed anything similar was against Olympiacos.
We’ve blamed Havertz and Jesus for missing lots of opportunities, but Gyökeres doesn’t even get that amount of chances to begin with.

It's almost as if getting into positions to score isn't something you can take for granted.

If there's any positive to take from Gyök not firing out of the gate, it's that some detractors may have started to appreciate Kai more.

It’s more likely about the chemistry between Gyökeres and his teammates. Havertz and Merino are similar, and Arteta’s system was built around a false 9.
If we want Gyökeres to improve, he needs more playing time. It’s been difficult for him from the start, first our attackers were injured, then when they returned, he got injured

It’s relevant if he’s going to be ineffective in 80% of games.
There are more teams in the league closer to Burnley's level than City's. So it makes even less sense to criticise him for scoring against weaker teams. At the end of the day he will be judged on how many goals he got in the season.

Surprised there’s been an uproar after the Villa game, 45 mins after a few weeks out against a top side is always going to be difficult, especially since he’s nursing a hamstring injury still.

At the end of the day he’s been our primary CF this season, is out scoring all the other new CF’s in the league and has us in first position.

Until the end of the season there’s not much point judging him. There’s a ton of football left to be played.

How are you surprised people are not okay with him only scoring 4 goals in 13 appearances and not looking like he is going to improve?

The team definitely does have creativity issues regardless of who plays up front....but when Merino or Havertz or Jesus have played up front over the last year or two they get a good few chances. The fact Gyok doesn't I think is as as much down to him not being able to get on the end of things, unmark himself and create separation with defenders, or even create for himself.
Getting yourself in position and on the end of things is as much a skill as anything else.

there is nobody in this world can defending gyokeres anymore if he doesn't score against this poor wolves

and wolves probably is the worst premier league team (until matchweek 15) in premier league history because they only got 2 points so far, i dont think there is premier league club in last 30 years who only got 2 points until matchweek 15

Why is first game back from 12 months out Gabi Jesus getting chances but Gyokeres isn’t?

His super fans need to have a long hard think.

Sometimes you just have to accept you bought a dud. Every club does it. But what I don’t like is people finding all kind of excuses blaming others on his inability. You had Jesus who’s been out since Biden was president and first game you can see he’s top class

You never watch this guy and think yeah he’s class

It was not he did not get the service.
He just did not make himself available for the (limited) service actually.

Told people on here that hell end up as backup to Havertz as Kai is better, albeit not great himself. Took a lot of flak for it but we'll see that play out now soon. He's not cut out for this level.

Thought he’d feel at home vs farmers again but even then he didn’t look good.

Worrying stuff. Can’t believing I’m saying this, but I can’t wait until Havertz gets back as he’ll take us up a level.
