It would have been worse if ManUtd signed him and he scored 30. We signed him because he was the best scoring striker in football and we needed more offense. It was a safe signing that is difficult to criticize by the numbers.

It seems that he still hasn’t figured out this level and what is required. Partially on him and partially on Arteta who has not changed anything in our play for the player’s strengths.

I just want us to figure this out so he becomes effective. We need this to work.

Gyokeres was really poor in first half. I will cut him and whole team a bit of slack in that we have had constant shuffling of lineups and have yet to be able to get players on same page. You can defensively all the changes have hurt our quality; the same dynamic exists with attack.

That being said he needs to unleash a few more efforts at goal. He needs to just turn and fire from beyond 18 sometimes

We obviously saw the game differently, because I saw PLENTY of transitions killed by us. Martinelli was crap, but I actually think you could defend him on the basis that clearly, Trossard is the choice to start against such an obvious deep block. I am in no way saying Gyok has been good, but I am saying that we do not move the ball forward quick enough in transitions where the block is fragmented.

Does this excuse also count also for the "poor" play of Havertz last year?

Also he is part of the slow transition ...

Everyone needs to go easy on him tonight. Imagine logging on to the internet and seeing all this criticism as a new signing. All of this must be horrible to see.

Anyway, can someone remind him to turn up and put the scaffolding together tomorrow?

Play the ball to him and he's involved. Play balls for him to attack and at least he'll win you corners or cause a bit of disruption. We did neither in the first half and he was anonymous.

He's not performing in the team the way it's set up. We need to see if we can adjust. Otherwise why even but him?
Why on earth would you play the ball to the player who is most likely to lose it?

Wolves and most teams park the bus against us, and not leaving 30 yards for him to run into space.
Tell me, how do we play to his strengths??

Saka played in a cracking ball along 6 yard line think Gyok slides in but he's a bit on his heels. 1st half.

He slid in but a bit on his heels.

Bar Saka the starting front four very poor tonight Eze I'm a fan, but Martinelli and Gyokeres also really poor.

This forum is turning into RAWK with the gyokeres excuses. Yet the knives were out for every minute thing Havertz done. Shocking stuff honestly.

He is genuinely awful. Have to hold my hands up here and I had a stinker being excited we signed him.
the difference is gyokeres did not missed a lot chance week in week out like havertz did & we also still did not play for his strength, we back to u-shape boring football that make gyokeres look even worst and worst
