Tbh I don't really want to see Gyokeres as a battler or hold up player. He's done pretty well at it but that's not why we've signed him.

We have Kai Havertz, we need Gyokeres to be Gyokeres. Playing on the shoulder, being the focus of our attack.

He's obviously going to need to do the donkey work to some extent but he shouldn't get overly fixated with it.

Some of its maybe a lack of pre season but you can see he's pretty gassed by 70-75 in most matches. He's putting in a lot of work which is a credit to him but maybe not always the best use of his talents.

Donkey work smonkey work. Battling the CBs and doing hold up play is a honest work from forwards. He is also playing of the shoulder you do notice that. He is doing a lot of work traditional striker does.

The biggest issues I have with Havertz besides his average finishing ability is not stretching oppo defences enough with his runs. He doesn't play enough on the shoulder of the last defender. I got tired of looking at our heat and pass maps with him when nobody was occupying no.9 position. Another thing, he likes to play on the right side of the pitch and by doing that he clogs the space for Saka and Ødegaard.

To sum up, if you pay attention our wingers/wide forwards have more opportunities to play 1vs1 this season because of the space which Gyokeres is creating for them.

this is very good point

Weird because that was exactly what Havertz was praised for. Smart off the ball movement and deep runs?

Havertz last season, same amount of games: 4 goals and 1 assist

2-0 Wolves (first goal, second assist)
1-1 Brighton (first goal)
4-2 Leicester (last goal)
2-0PSG (first goal)

As difficult games, we played Villa A, Sp**s A, City A, Atalanta A, PSG H
This year Utd A, Liverpool A, City H, Newcastle A, Bilbao A

Same difficulty, much better squad this year.

He should have burried at least one yesterday. Especially the 2nd through ball from Ødegaard, you either finish it or pass it to Martinelli...

How about Havertz needing till late Novemeber to reach 3 goals in his first season here? 🤔

Dude it's enough to look at the first 50 seconds of this clip:

It shows everything about Havertz played during his bedding in period. Compared to this, Gyokeres plays like prime Diego Costa.

Coming around to Kai being rotated in to start certain games, tbh... especially with how Arteta uses his CF.

Think he's a very good player, but don't think he's elite...which is more than fine, as in this era of strikers that's not more than good enough for us.

Okay mate, yeah prime Diego Costa ...

Objectiveness is sometimes very difficult to find within people. I'm stating the obvious, I wanted to have an upgrade on Havertz and the 8 games of Gyokeres did not show me he is much better than him.

If I'm Arteta, I pick Havertz more against tougher opponents because of his ability of press, technical skillset and speed. Gyokeres, I would like to utilize on teams sitting deeper.

It is true the first 8 games have been underwhelming and if it was to continue like this all season it would be unacceptable. He’s about a second too slow at this level and he needs some time to adapt his game. The team has been shuffled in every game with injuries to the creative players and that awful midfield 3 Arteta kept selecting didn’t help. Let him have a run with Eze, Saka and Ode in the team and let them get used to playing together before saying it doesn’t work.

Why is everybody on this guys back?

He came into a team that had a system where strikers usually don't work, classic strikers atleast. We saw that with Auba, Laca later when system was in full flow.

This guy is a huge nuisance to the defenders, you can't let him free just like that, if you watched the match yesterday you would see that he is doing the link up and hold play so well, that all those that were calling him out for that are now..where?

It's not like every other striker besides Haaland is scoring per match? Sesko got one goal even though United had the most xG and they can create chances well, not like Pedro and Ekitike are slamming the goalscorers list out there.

Some of you are just trying to scapegoat this guy and call him out at the earliest inconvenience.

So **** off honesty I'm tired of people calling him out. He is performing GOOD, not incredible, not amazing, but half of your bullshit here isn't true in the slightest.

People don’t all have the same opinion, chill out.

Some even take the position of praising players/managers when they think they deserve it, and questioning them when they think it’s warranted.

He's been fine.

We all knew he wasn't going to be a world beater, but at least he *is* a striker and not a weird hybrid like Havertz.

He's on the box a lot more often than not, unlike Kai, and we've been able to stretch teams more as a result.

Let him play with Saka/Eze/Ode more before we make a judgment call.

Every striker has spells when they don’t score as much as they’d like to. Victor will bang in a few soon enough then you’ll all rave about him, just wait and see. Has a natural confidence too and he wont lose that because of a few games without a goal.

Yep, he's physically there now and he speed is returning. Link-up has also been surprisingly decent the last two games.

The knives are out for him by the opposition, but we shouldn't care at all.

He's already doing his part, it's a matter of finding his rhythym & he will sooner rather than later.

As you said, physically he's up to speed, it's only a matter if time before his speed catches up & he'll become a menace.
